It's only been half an hour since she left for Jodhpur, and I'm already feeling her absence like a weight in my chest. I don't know how I'm going to make it through the night without her. Two days—that's all it's been since she officially became mine, and here I am, already acting like a love-sick fool.

I glance down at Wasoolie, his small, warm body curled up on my lap, eyes looking up at me with what seems like shared melancholy.

"Are you missing her too, champ?" I ask, scratching behind his ear.

Wasoolie lets out a soft whimper, burrowing closer to my stomach. He's missing her too, but probably not as much as I am. How could he? No one could miss her the way I do.

I try to drown myself in work, hoping it will keep my thoughts from straying back to her. But no matter how hard I focus, her smile, her laughter, her warmth—they haunt me. Every thought is a memory of her, and every second apart feels like an eternity.

Just then, my phone vibrates on the table, jolting me from my thoughts. The screen lights up with the name that's been on my mind every second since she left.

Rooh❤️ Calling...

My heart races as I pick up the phone. "Hello?"

"Abhinav..." Her voice, soft and tender, immediately brings a smile to my face.
