Rajwanti Singh Rajput stood in the midst of chaos, orchestrating the final preparations for her granddaughter Ruhanika's mehndi ceremony with the precision of a seasoned conductor. Her commanding voice resonated throughout the grand halls of the Rajput palace, directing the servants as they hustled back and forth, carrying trays of vibrant flowers, colorful fabrics, and intricate decorations. Each detail mattered to her, from the arrangement of the marigold garlands to the selection of the mehndi designs that would adorn Ruhanika's hands.
"Are you mad? Where are you taking those flowers?" she barked at a flustered servant, her sharp gaze piercing through the air. The servant stammered an apology, quickly correcting his course under her watchful eye.
"Maa, Pandit Ji called a few minutes ago. The muhurat is at 3 PM," Pratap Rajput, her younger son, announced as he approached with a charming smile, trying to ease the tension in the room.
Rajwanti nodded, her mind already whirring with the next tasks. "Okay, did you call the driver to check how long it will take to bring all the gift boxes?"
Before Pratap could respond, Bharat Singh Rajput, his elder brother, interjected. "I'm going to do that now, Maa."
"Everyone listen to me!" Rajwanti's voice rose above the chatter, her authority silencing the room. "I want everything perfect for my granddaughter's mehndi. This is a momentous occasion, and we cannot afford to make any mistakes."
"Yes, boss!" came the chorus of replies from the gathered family and staff, who then scurried off to their respective tasks, the atmosphere charged with anticipation and urgency.
Satisfied with her team's response, Rajwanti turned to her younger daughter-in-law, Avantika, Ruhanika's mother, her brow furrowing slightly. "Avantika, go and check if our princesses are awake."
"They are already awake, Maa. Sanyu asked a servant for raw eggs and lukewarm water half an hour ago," Avantika replied, her tone mixed with concern and bewilderment.
"Raw eggs and lukewarm water? Why? Were they drinking last night?" Rajwanti's eyes narrowed, suspicion creeping into her voice as she scrutinized Avantika.
"I don't think so, Maa. And we all know how they are. Our daughters are innocent and calm; they wouldn't do anything like that," Avantika defended, trying to cover up the previous night's escapades with a sense of maternal pride.
"Yes, Maa, Avantika is right. We all know our daughters can't do anything wrong. If it were Abhishek in this situation, I might have had the same thought. But they are our innocent daughters who can't even kill a fly, let alone lie to us. How can they be drunk?" Manyata Singh, Ruhanika's badi maa, added, her tone soothing and supportive.
