"This is your temporary room, Bhabhi," Shristi exclaimed, her voice laced with an infectious excitement. She practically bounced with energy as she led me into the room, her eyes dancing with joy. The room was beautifully decorated, with soft, pastel-colored walls and delicate floral patterns that exuded a sense of calm. A large window let in the golden afternoon sunlight, casting a warm glow over the elegant furniture and plush cushions.

As Shristi continued to gush about the room's decor and how much effort everyone had put into making me feel welcome, I tried to muster a smile. Her enthusiasm was touching, yet I felt a deep, inexplicable void inside me. It was a void that had grown over the years, filled with unanswered questions about my past and the family I could barely remember. The more Shristi spoke, the more I felt myself drifting into those hazy memories.

In my mind, I saw fleeting images—blurry yet familiar. There were moments of laughter, the sound of children playing, and the warmth of a brother's protective embrace. For the longest time, I had convinced myself that these memories were of Amit Mittal, my adopted brother. But now, knowing the truth, I realized those cherished moments belonged to another life, another family. The revelation left me feeling unmoored, like a ship lost at sea.

As these thoughts swirled in my head, I couldn't help but wonder: Who was my real family? Why hadn't they found me all these years? Did they even know I existed? The questions felt like a storm brewing inside me, threatening to overwhelm my senses. I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the soft footsteps behind me until I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist, pulling me into a warm embrace.
