Elena's point of view

My son and I were exploring the isolated unit we spotted. From what I could see, it looked like it had been there for years. Vegetation was attacking the metal, which was beginning to rust. As I went to look inside, I could see the reigning disorder. The link box seemed to have buckled, bearing scorch marks. The control consoles and furniture seemed to have been blown up by an explosion. Probably a grenade. Discreetly, I stepped inside, scanning the floor. I could see that everything seemed to have been blown from a point on the floor, confirming my theory. The fridge reeked of mildew and the remnants of a burnt smell. Closing the battered door, I headed for the link box. When I opened it, I was surprised to see no corpse. On closer inspection, I could see the remains of a piece of clothing. I was looking for a clue to the owner's identity. But nothing really interesting, as everything seemed to have been taken. Strange... Could the Na'vis have looted them? Or could it be the remaining humans? But why take out the body? It's not as if the bonding box was usable.

Ben: Mother, come look at this!

I got out of the link unit and walked over to it. And what I saw surprised me greatly. In front of us stood a wooden cross, reminiscent of ancient earthly tombs. The Na "vis didn't take the trouble to mark their dead, knowing that they were joining their goddess, Eywa. This meant that whoever did this was not from Pandora.

Me: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Ben: Yes, it looks as if an avatar wanted to bury someone close to him.

He scanned the surroundings, as if trying to find some betrayal of presence. A rustle or something. As for me, I began to dig the earth that would serve as a tomb. Perhaps by analyzing the owner, I'd have a clue as to who was willing to do him this favor.

Ben: That's not very respectful, Mother.

Me: Oh, the person's not going to complain! Help me, instead.

Ben: I've got to watch our backs.

I sighed, but conceded it. With Pandora, you had to be careful. After several minutes of digging, I finally found the beginning of a bone. Continuing on, I soon saw the corpse...Wait, no! There's two of them! And one as big as a...

Ben: A human and his avatar, it seems.

Reflexively, I looked at the Na'vi skeleton's fingers and saw five.

Me: So the deceased was an avatar pilot. Now, reveal your identity.

So I took out my portable datapad and began scanning the human corpse. Now that I was observing her in detail, I noted that she was a woman, of a certain age, judging by certain bodily clues. Ben's voice cut me off from my inspection

Ben: Oh shit...It's not possible. Mom...

Me: What?

Ben: It's you.

I widened my eyes and looked at the scan results, showing a photo of me as a human, before I left for Pandora.

"Identification completed: Elena Ishuntzi Thalyen.

I'd just found my own tomb. But that only added to the mystery. Who could have paid me such respect, to bury me according to an old human tradition?

Lutsey's point of view

I had decided to accompany Tsylan, who was visiting Misoka. Their clan had escaped the flames of the coming Sky People, but only just. The burning wall had stopped not far from their Kelutral. Obviously, this had an impact on their lives, as some flowers were destroyed. Forcing them to look elsewhere, while waiting for Eywa to heal. Originally, Tsylan wanted to visit his niece and I wanted to visit my nephews. But I wanted to stick around, because I had a bad feeling. What's more, I'd had a nightmare in which I saw enemies returning in the form of members of the People. Having heard this, I didn't need any arguments to convince him to stay nearby, to act if the situation ever got complicated.
