Evelyn had spent a couple of days at Harvey's with them making sure one of them was with her at all times, not wanting her to be alone to ensure Ransom couldn't make a unwanted appearance.
Now she was sat on her flight back to LA with her mind racing. All she could think about was the moment she found out that he was getting married. His fiancé was a tall skinny blonde who looked like she could be a model, what Evelyn feels is the complete opposite to her. No wonder he wants to marry her, she would make a beautiful bride and they would make stunning babies.
She's snapped out of her thoughts by the announcement that they have landed. Not bothering to call Luke she gets and Uber back to her apartment. Once back she sends Luke a quick message to let him know she's back before jumping in the shower to freshen up before her shift.
Her bruises have faded so they don't take as much makeup to cover up.
"How was Boston?" Andy asks as she enters the bar.
"Was nice to see old faces" she fakes a smile.
"Think Luna should be in tonight as we are expecting it to be busy, so I am glad you are back" Andy says as they both get the bar ready for open.
"Hey baby" Luke says entering the bar with chocolates.
"Hi" she says forcing a smile as he walks up and kisses her.
"Happy to have you home" he says handing over the chocolates.
"Oooh the fancy kind, thanks" Andy says taking the chocolates and stealing one, before feeding Evelyn one.
"Good choice" Andy laughs heading out the back.
"I missed you" Luke says wrapping his arms around her waist bringing her into a deep kiss.
"I missed you too" Evelyn says snaking her arms around his neck.
"How about we go out back" he whispers.
"Luke I gotta start work, we will catch up later" Evelyn says moving her arms.
"Come on baby" he says slipping his hands down to her ass.
"What's up bitches" Luna enters the bar breaking the awkward tension.
"Hey Luna it's good to see you it's been a while" Evelyn goes to walk over to her but Luke's grip tightens slightly.
"Look what the cat dragged in" Andy teases as she re-enters the bar.
"Ready ladies, the queue is already forming" Joe now enters.
"Yep we are all good" Andy confirms.
"Babe I gotta work" Evelyn says as Luke's grip finally let's her go.
"I will get a beer" He smiles at her.
"Coming right up" she takes a deep breathe as she walks to the bar.
Andy wasn't wrong the bar was packed and they barely got five minutes for a break.
"God my feet are killing me" Luna groans.
"Same but not long now" Evie replies stretching her back.
"Whiskey for table 5" Andy says heading to the bar "Actually make it a double for him he's super cute"
"Ooo now I wanna see" Luna says exiting the bar to go do a walk by.
"You are both terrible" Evie laughs.
"Well not all of us have hot boyfriends" Andy teases.
"One double whiskey" Evie says handing her the drink.
"Wish my luck" Andy winks.
"Poor guy" replies laughing shaking her head.
"Me and some of lads are gonna head to another bar" Luke says walking up to Evie.
"Okay did I need to leave the key out?" she now asks.
"No your good baby I won't want to disturb you it will probably be a late one" he says going to meet her at the entrance of the bar.
"I can't wait to show you how much I've missed you" he says kissing her.
"Me either" she fakes a smile.
"Dude come on" one of his friends shouts.
"See ya" he slaps her ass and heads off.
"Andy wasn't wrong he's hot" Luna comes back with some empty glasses she collected while doing her walk by.
"Let me guess she's now battering her lashes at him" Evie laughs.
"Oh you know it, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see her again tonight you know what's she like" Luna says wiping down the bar.
"Last orders" Evie shouts ringing the bell.
"Errr why are the hot ones taken" Andy groans as she re-enters the bar.
"Bad luck babe" Luna replies.
Evie begins to walk round the bar collecting empty glasses while making sure people know bar closes in 10.
All of a sudden she drops the tray full of glasses having spotted who is sat at table 5.
"Fuck" she curses before crouching down to pick up the broken glass.
"Someone is clumsy" Andy says walking over with the brush to sweep up the glass.
"Lost my balance for a moment" she replies looking up and seeing Ransom staring at her.
"Evie you're shaking" Andy says looking at her concerned.
"Yeah I just realised that I've forgotten to eat all day" Evie lies.
"Why don't you head home me and Luna can close" Andy suggest.
"No I'm good" Evie replies.
"You look like you are about to pass out, go home" Andy smiles.
"Okay" Evie says standing up to grab her stuff.
"You look like shit" Luna says looking at her.
"Thanks you are so kind, I just forgot to eat all day so Andy told me go home, you sure you guys can cope?" Evie checks.
"Yeah we're good you go eat and rest" Luna reassures her.
Feeling like she can barely walk or breathe Evie walks out the bar before she hears Ransom calling her name.
Walking away she tries not to look back at Ransom who is calling her.
Finally he catches up to her stopping in front of her and she just stares at the floor, not wanting to look into his baby blue eyes.
"Why you here Hugh?" She asks not wanting to say his name.
"Really Hugh" he huffs.
"Please just leave" she says voice breaking.
"I'm not leaving until you tell me who hurt you" anger in his tone.
"I'm not your concern anymore. So please just leave" she says trying to get past him, but he stops her.
"Evie" he pleads hand lightly touching hers before using his other hand to lift her chin.
"Stop please" she pleads tears threatening to fall.
"Evie who hurt you?" He now looks into her eyes.
"It was a stupid bar fight okay" she says finally as tears fall.
Using his thumb to wipe her tears, she relaxes into his touch.
"Bar fight?" Ransom asks and she just nods but he doesn't fully believe her.
"Congratulations" she chokes out.
"I'm sorry" he says now cupping her face.
"What for, you moved on you're happy, you don't need to apologise for that" tears now streaming down her face.
"Are you happy?" He now asks caressing her face.
"Yeah" she lies.
"I don't believe you" he says getting closer to her.
"I have a boyfriend" she stutters.
"I asked if you were happy" his breathe fans over her neck.
"I am" she lies again.
Leaning in his lips meet hers and all of a sudden she feels like the whole world stops.
Letting his lips mould with her before she comes to her senses and pushes him away.
"Ransom you have a fiancé" she whispers "I can't... I can't do this"
"Evie" he goes to step closer but she steps back.
"No you have a fiancé and I have a boyfriend" she turns away from him.
"Go home" she says before taking off.
Getting home she breaks down as soon as the door is closed, sliding down the door hugging her legs sobbing.
Why did he kiss her?
He's getting married, so why, why did he just kiss her.
Her phone goes off and she sees a message on her phone followed by picture.
Thought you should see this, I'm sorry the picture shows Luke kissing another girl.
"BASTARD" She screams but then remembers that she just kissed Ransom.
Just then her phone goes off again and she sees it's Ransom.
I'm sorry, please meet me tomorrow xx
