Flashback

"Happy birthday" Ransom smirks at Evelyn. "Although I have to say you don't have a face of someone who is enjoying her birthday"
"This party is for my parents not me" She groans.
"No friends here?" He now asks looking round.
"What 16 year old except us who have been forced would want to come to this, also my parents didn't want children running around" she gestures round the room filled with mostly business people.

"Happy birthday kiddo" Harvey comes over.
"Thanks" Evie fake smiles.
"Me and Donna did try and talk your parents out of this and to ask what you wanted to do" he looks at her apologetically.
"It's fine" she sighs accepting her fate.
"Hey when your parents are away next week me and Harvey will celebrate with you properly" Donna now joins smiling at her.

"Thank you" Evie smiles at Donna before the pair are called over by her parents to introduce them to someone.

"Wanna slip out for a minute don't think anyone would notice" Ransom winks at her grabbing two glasses of champagne as they leave.
"Here" he hands her a glass.
"Ransom my parents would kill me if they saw" Evie goes to swat away the glass.
"Live a little Eves" he waves the glass in her face.

"Fuck it" she says taking the glass and drinking it.
"That's the spirit" he laughs.
"I'm sorry you got stuck coming here" she looks at him apologetically.
He takes a sip of his drink before staring at her not responding.
"What?" She questions now suddenly feeling self conscious.

He suddenly leans in and kisses her, she moans which gives him access to slip in his tongue.
His hand starts to wonder up her dress before reaching her soaked panties
"Ransom wait I've never..." she begins but is cut off from the feeling of Ransom running his fingers over her wet lips.

He begins to circle her clit with his thumb while his lips make there way down her neck.

Feeling his legs become heavy Ransom wasn't sure if he could walk into the room, because then it all becomes too real.

Sensing his pain Donna nods for Harvey and Michael to go ahead.
"Ransom breathe" she says placing her hand on his back.
"I should've fought harder for her to tell me what was happening" he slides down the wall of the hospital.
"Hey look we all should've tried harder but we can't change the past, this isn't your fault Ransom you can't blame yourself" Donna tries to comfort him.

Nodding and taking a couple of deep breathes he stands up and starts walking to the room.
His heart instantly breaking at the sight he's greeted with.

The doctor is stood with Harvey and Michael talking through the injures that Evelyn sustained.
A broken ankle, four broken ribs, broken cheekbone and a serious head injury. She was currently in coma with the machines breathing for her, the next 24hrs were critical.
The doctor takes Harvey and Donna outside the room to the break the news of the assault due the trauma found during examination.

Slowly approaching the bed Ransom examines her entire body, before sitting down next to her and gently taking her hand in his.
"She gonna be okay" Micheal speaks while standing the other side of the bed.
"She has to be" Ransom replies closing his eyes.

"What did they say?" Ransom asks once Donna and Harvey re enter the room looking almost mortified by what they had been told.

"Ummm" Donna goes to speak but can't find the words.
"He ummm didn't just beat her" Harvey begins to explain and Ransom feels pure anger bubbling inside him.
"He well" Harvey tries to continue.
"Harvey it's fine I think we both understand what you're trying to say" Michael clarifies his heart breaking.

"I'm gonna kill that bastard" Ransom sneers going to leave the room but is stopped by Harvey and Michael.
"The police have him, let them do their job. Trust me I know what you are feeling but you are no good to Evie if you are facing a murder charge" Harvey tries to calm him down.
"He's right we all feel the way you do but we have to let the police deal with this" Micheal adds.

Eventually calming down Ransom resits on the chair next to her bed.
Suddenly there is a knock on the door and they all turn to look.

"Ummm hi, I'm Andy I work with Evie at the bar I was the one who found her. I was just getting some things for her from the flat" she introduces herself and holds up and bag of stuff for Evie.
Harvey and Donna weren't shocked of the news that Evie works at a bar, she never was great at keeping secrets from them as they always found out one way or another.

"Thank you for helping her" Donna smiles and takes the bag.
"You must be Harvey, Donna and Michael she talks about you guys a lot" she smiles "you're the guy from the bar one time" she now looks at Ransom instantly recognising him.

"Ransom" is all he says before turning back to focus on Evie.
"It's nice to meet a friend of Evie's" Donna smiles.
"Some friend" Ransom grunts.
"Sorry about him, tensions are a little high right now. We are thankful that you found her" Donna shoots Ransom a look.

"I helped the police find Luke" Andy adds "I feel like this is my fault I shouldn't have left her to close by herself" tears begin to fall.
"Hey this isn't your fault okay, the only person to blame here is the person who did this" Donna comforts her.
"I will help them to make sure that asshole rots in jail" she sniffles "I didn't realise he was hitting her, she always had some excuse for her bruises I should've known" she now adds.

"We saw them too and believed her lies so you're not the only one to blame there" Harvey adds his voice breaking slightly.
"He will get his punishment we will all make sure of that" Michael says walking up and hugging Andy.

"I will leave you guys alone, but if you need anything please let me know or if anything changes" she hands Donna a piece of paper with her number on.
"Of course and come visit whenever you want" she smiles hugging Andy before she leaves.

"You knew she worked at a bar and not in publishing like she told everyone?" Ransom now turns to face Harvey.
"She never could get anything past us, but we didn't want her to know that we knew. She seemed happy there and that was all that matters" Harvey replies before sitting down on the chair the opposite side of Ransom.

"She did it because she knew her parents would hate it" Ransom smiles remembering what she said.
"They definitely would" Donna laughs.
"You guys are more her family then they ever were, she was so happy when you took her out while they were away to celebrate her 16th after her parents threw that awful party" Ransom looks at them.

"Well I remember her telling me it wasn't all bad" Donna smirks.
"Wait she told you?" Ransom now sounds shocked and looks slightly embarrassed.
"I could tell something happened after she came back in so I asked" Donna smiles "She told me the truth eventually. And yes she did also tell me about your guys first time as well. You've given her as much pleasure as heartbreaks over the years Ransom" Donna laughs seeing Harvey squirm at hearing that, but she was never one to shy from the truth.

"Okay let's change the subject" Harvey clears his throat.

The room falls into a comfortable silence, the only noise coming from the machines currently keeping Evie alive.
