Slowly she turns to face Ransom finally seeing the anger on his face.
"3 MONTHS YOU'VE BEEN GONE! 3 MONTHS" Ransom yells.
"Fuck you Ransom, it took you not even 24 hours after one argument before you went out and fucked someone else" she spits out.
"I fucked up I know, I was going to apologise but you just disappeared with no word" Ransom runs his hand over his face.
"Ransom let her explain" Harlan tries to meditate.
"No you know what Harlan I don't feel like I have to explain myself to him right now" she stands up in anger.
"YES YOU DO" Ransom shouts.
"NO I DON'T" she shouts back.
"Please calm down both of you" Harlan tries to interject again.
"Stay out of this" Ransom shuts him down.
"Don't speak to him like that" she glares at him. "Harlan I will come back another time, thank you for your hospitality it was good to see you" she turns to face him giving him an apologetic look.
"Where do you think you are going?" Ransom grabs her arm as she tries to pass him.
"Get off me" She tries to shrug herself free.
"You need to explain what you mean, you owe me that" Ransom spits.
"I don't owe you shit" she finally breaks her arm free from his grip and turns to walk fast out the room, hearing Ransom follow.
"YOU JUST LEFT" Ransom shouts following her.
"WELL YOU FUCKED SOMEONE ELSE" she screams at him.
"YOU TOLD ME TO LEAVE YOU ALONE" he counters.
Scoffing in disbelief she grabs her keys for her bag.
"Just because I told you to leave me alone in the heat of the moment Ransom didn't mean it was okay for you to jump straight into bed with the first person you saw" she looks him directly in the eyes.
"I know I fucked up, I got drunk and..." Ransom starts.
"And nothing, there's no excuse" she sighs getting in the car before speeding off in anger.
Pulling into her work car park, she parks up calming herself before she heads inside.
"Well well the wonderer has returned" Harvey greets her as she walks over to his office.
"Harvey" she smiles back at him.
"Your tan looks amazing" Donna compliments.
"Sunbathing on a yacht in Saint Tropez helped" she smirked at her.
"Okay I'm gonna need details, I will grab coffee" Donna says heading to grab coffees.
"Thanks for handling everything while I was gone" She says to Harvey taking a seat on his sofa.
"Of course" he smiles at her.
"For you" she hands him a bottle of his favourite whiskey.
"Thank you" he takes it from her placing it with the others.
"Well look who's back" Michael says walking into Harvey's office.
"Just the other person I needed to see" she smiled at him.
"Here you go" Donna says handing her a coffee.
Opening the lid she looks at Harvey who laughs and he walks to the cabinet before pouring whiskey into her coffee.
"God I need more than that" she sighs placing the lid back on.
"Guessing you've seen him since being back" Donna states noticing your mood.
"Yep and we got into another argument, the dick thinks he deserves an explanation as if him sleeping with someone else and my parents dying isn't good enough reason for me to take a vacation" she half laughs and takes a sip of her coffee.
"I'm still shocked he did that" Donna says.
"It's just who he is, I should've known he wouldn't change" she rolls her eyes and shrugs her shoulders.
"His loss" Michael adds.
"I probably know someone who could make him suffer painfully" Harvey smirks.
"As sweet as that is I'm good. Plus I don't wanna have to defend my best lawyer" she smirks back.
"Exactly I'm the best so nothing would ever come back to us" he laughs.
"I will keep that in mind. Anyway I want to discuss something with you three" she looks between them all.
"Why do I think I'm not gonna like whats about to happen" Harvey looks at her suspiciously.
"I'm leaving" she blurts out before she chickens out.
"WHAT" Donna shouts shocked.
"You sound like him when he overheard me tell Harlan" she joked.
"Sorry" Donna looks at her sympathetically.
"Care to expand on that sentence" Harvey says pouring himself a drink.
"I'm leaving Boston, I'm making you two joint partners in the business. You and Micheal will have run of the company I will just be a silent partner" she explains.
"You sure about this?" Michael asks looking concerned.
"I can't be here anymore, I don't love law I only did it for my parents and you two are the best this firm has to offer. You've been running the show for months now and the company has only grown" she states proudly.
"What are the benefits to us?" Harvey asks casually.
"Give me two seconds" she says pulling out her phone "okay check your emails you should see your new contract, you too Donna" she smirks.
"Holy..." Michael chokes reading his contract.
"The fine print states what I still have a say in but everything else is up to you two, Donna as you are now assistant to the CEO you deserved extra, plus you deserve it for putting up with him" she laughs.
"I'm glad that's finally been recognised" she smiles while brushing her shoulders off proudly.
"Read through them and let me know if you have any questions, I have the house ready to be listed but still need to find a new place to live so I will be back and forth for a while until I find somewhere" she says looking between them all.
"Where you moving to?" Harvey asks.
"I'm thinking the city of dreams" she laughs "I had always wanted to move to LA but that was never in the cards until now, so I've decided life is too short and fuck it"
"That's the spirit" Donna claps "Although you will be missed"
"You guys honestly made my time here bearable I'm not sure I would've gotten through if it wasn't for you three" she smiles looking at Harvey.
"You're like the annoying sister I didn't know I wanted" Michael hugs her.
"Oh please you would've been bored without me annoying you" you smile at him "Anway I'm gonna go, but we are going to have drinks Friday night" she states standing up.
"I will have my driver pick you up at 6" Harvey states.
"Sounds good, read those contracts and let me know" she says heading out the door.
Pulling up to the driveway she sees Ransom's BMW parked in the driveway.
"Fuck" she screams at herself before sighing and accepting she needs to speak to him at some point.
Might as well get it over and done with now so she can focus on her fresh start.
"I don't have the energy to fight Ransom" she says getting out the car seeing him stood waiting for her.
"I haven't come to fight" Ransom says sounding dejected "what did you mean by your leaving, you only just come back" he asks as you both walk to the door.
"I'm leaving Boston, I've put the house up for sale and I'm moving state" she says heading inside walking straight to get a glass of wine.
"You're selling the house?" Ransom sounds shocked.
Taking a large sip of her wine before answering "Yep"
"What about us?" Ransom asks.
"There is no us, you decided that the second you fucked someone else" she says walking outside making herself comfortable on the garden furniture.
"Evie I'm sorry, please can you forgive me" Ransom pleads following her outside.
"We've been doing this dance for too long Rans. We just have to accept we clearly don't work" she sighs.
"But we do" Ransom kneels infront of her.
"I'm done Ransom, I can't be here anymore this place doesn't feel like home anymore, I need something new" she sighs.
"I will come with you" he offers.
"NO" she shouts "Ransom I'm serious we are done I can't keep doing this we always end up hurting each other it's not healthy, surely you can see that" tears beginning to form in her eyes.
"But we can try and make it work" Ransom tries to plead.
"Ransom just accept the fact that we're over I've finally accepted it" she sighs taking a large sip of wine.
"Fuck this" Ransom stands up and marches out the house slamming the door behind him, just like he did that night.
"Point proven" she whispers as a few tears fall.
She couldn't wait to move away and start her new life in a new state, this one just has way too much pain in it. She had 3 months of just feeling happy, carefree and alive, that was gone within one day of being back here she felt drained and tired.
Will she miss certain parts about her life here in Boston sure but right now bad outweighs the good, moving to Los Angeles is what she needed to reinvent herself.
