Leng Lu stared at him, keeping quiet. Actually, he always felt weak in front of his lover's persuasion. If it was anything but his status as a fallen god, he might have given in already. After all, why wouldn't he want the same as Li Yin? Why wouldn't he want to openly be with him, making sure that people like that God of War standing outside the door couldn't get any ideas or letting Ru Zhen have a name to his second parent? All these things, he craved them as well. He simply couldn't put down his vigilance to obtain them.
Deep in his heart, somewhere in the depths of his soul, he felt that he could never let go of any power he obtained. He had to strive to obtain a strength far above what anyone else in this world wielded. Only this way could he guarantee that nobody could hurt his lover and their child. Because at the end of the day, strength was the only thing you could fall back on.
You couldn't depend on your achievements in the past or a nominal position. You couldn't trust others no matter what they promised you or how long you may have known them. You couldn't rely on other people's sense of morality and honor. Only absolute strength could keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Thus, he could never abandon the abilities his fall had given him. He just couldn't. No matter how much Li Yin begged him or how much he agreed that their current situation sucked.
Leng Lu quietly reached up, brushing Li Yin's cheek the same way his lover had just touched him. "I love you too. That will never change."
Heaven knew he had felt as if he gained another life when he realized that this person was the one he had lost. How could he ever stop loving him? How could he ever not want to keep him close and protect him with everything he had?
Li Yin — and their son, of course — was everything he had. There was no sense in dragging on his life if these two were gone. Of course, as a fallen god, even if he lost them, he could still find them again. He could wait for them to reincarnate and he would do everything to allow them to remember their previous life so they could return to being a family again. Of course, that was yet another reason why he couldn't give up his abilities.
Yes, no matter how he looked at it, there was just no way to fulfill this wish of Li Yin's. Even though his lover clearly hadn't stopped hoping yet that he would change his mind, he already knew that it wasn't going to happen. This matter, he'd have to make up for it in another way.
Leng Lu tilted his head and then leaned in, lightly kissing Li Yin. It seemed that what Li Yin lacked was a sense of security in this relationship of theirs. After all, always having to keep it a secret was different for him.
Li Yin was not just around other people regularly but even in the eye of the public. As somebody who was good-looking, smart, and powerful, he naturally lacked nothing to gain others' interest. Not being able to state that there was somebody at his side, that the other parent of his child was very much still alive and in a relationship with him, or even that he was in love with someone had to hurt. Every single time somebody showed interest and reminded him of how it wasn't common knowledge that he was already taken, his heart had to squeeze. Most likely, it was made even worse by the fact that not even the people closest to him were aware.
Leng Lu wrapped his arms around his lover's waist, pulling him closer. Maybe ... they should be more open. Anyway, they had just been caught. That God of War clearly hadn't seen his face so there was no reason to worry about that. But wasn't that the perfect opportunity to let him know that Li Yin had somebody in his life?
Yes, just let him know for now and then come up with an explanation later. Anyway, hadn't Xiang Yu managed to sneak into the capital city of the Nine Heavens unnoticed by relying on that ridiculous getup? If that dunce could do it, then so could he! Even if he couldn't appear regularly because there was still a certain risk, he could at least show himself every now and then, allowing Li Yin to make their relationship known.
Making up his mind to fulfill his lover's wish in a different way without having to give up his identity as a fallen god, Leng Lu turned slightly and swept everything off the table with his sleeve before picking up his lover. Since the person outside hadn't left yet, this was the best way to let him know what was going on, wasn't it?
Li Yin faintly raised his brows but didn't say anything. He wasn't sure what was going on in Leng Lu's mind but the gloom shrouding his lover had receded a little so his most recent bout of paranoia should be over. Distracting him further would definitely help to keep it that way. Also, he didn't think Qiang Yan's matter should have been urgent or all that important. If it had been, he would have called out from the door to explain no matter what he saw.
Making up his mind, Li Yin grasped Leng Lu's neck and pulled him closer, their lips meeting once again. He closed his eyes and hummed faintly as his hands already moved to pull open his lover's robe.
At times like these, he almost felt as if the two of them were a regular couple. Anyway, everyone had had a secret rendezvous at a slightly inopportune time before and gotten caught at least once, hadn't they? In this way, they sure weren't all that odd.
