It took Jing He a moment to pull out of his daze and he finally inclined his head. "Yes, it was about him." Anyway, Tian had met Qiu Ling and his fiance had never been one to hold back. Who knew if he had mentioned him in front of the supreme sovereign and said something to this effect? "As for what I think ... uhm ..." Jing He stumbled over his words for once. He wasn't even sure if Tian knew what exactly he had thought of that made him so how could he casually speak about it? But he also couldn't not speak when the supreme sovereign himself asked him a question.

He forced himself to calm down and then carefully tried to package his thoughts into a vague statement. "I was very surprised and ... I am afraid that this might impact our relationship." None of these words were wrong. In fact, they incorporated the gist of it. And yet, they didn't actually mention the issue at all, skirting around the truth.

A few steps away, Tian looked at the young crown prince of the Nine Heavens, his gaze actually changing for once. It was hard to put into words what he might be feeling. Maybe it would be right to say that he looked very much as if he just wanted to sigh. He didn't do so and instead walked over until he stood directly in front of Jing He.

The person opposite stiffened but Tian had never been one to care much about others' feelings. He reached out, grabbed Jing He's chin, and gently forced him to raise his head. "I happen to know a few things which include your lover's heritage. I am sure that was what you thought of so there is no need to hold any words back."

Jing He stared at Tian in horror. This probably shouldn't be his reaction. He had admired this man for a long time. Standing in front of him, he should probably be ecstatic. But ... this was the supreme sovereign, after all, and he had never thought he would meet him in this life. Even if they met, he wouldn't have thought it would be like this.

No, when meeting the supreme sovereign, surely, he would impart some wisdom. Just like when he saw him in the High Heavens as Zhong Jing Yi and received a warning. Now, he had become the crown prince of the Nine Heavens again so whatever Tian had to say should be even more profound, the kind of words that could change his life and maybe the direction of the Nine Heavens forever. So why ... were they talking about his love life?

Tian continued to look at him and when Jing He didn't react, his gaze moved and he finally let go of him. "Well, all of this is new to you. It will take some time to get used to it." In fact ... he wasn't too sure if Jing He had even realized his situation yet. Even though his reaction before had been strong, it was likely that this had been caused by his obsession, not his own situation.

Tian took a step back, glancing at the Mark of Wisdom between Jing He's brows. Yes, he should be torn about his lover being part demon. He had remembered that part of his trial just before he fell so that was the final catalyst. Remembering it again now, his shattered soul would naturally ache. That it had already become like this ... he might need a reminder but then, it didn't seem to be time for that yet.

"You said that you believe this might cause issues for your relationship? Why is that?" He didn't intend to remind him so he brought the conversation back to the previous topic. Looking at Jing He's tangled expression, having something to focus on might be for the best.

Jing He was indeed pulled out of his worries about meeting Tian when he was suddenly asked this question. He still felt odd about discussing his love life but when it was this person who asked, he didn't dare to say one false word or leave out anything. If it was anyone else, he would definitely be more reserved but he didn't dare to do so with Tian. "My father ... has never liked Qiu Ling much. If his heritage were to become common knowledge, I am afraid it would be impossible for us."

"You should realize that he wouldn't randomly tell others about this."

Jing He paused. To be honest, he hadn't thought so much. As soon as he remembered and understood what those bits and pieces from the trial meant, he was instantly filled with dread. He saw all his expectations and dreams shatter and the life he wished for running through his fingers. How could he have the time to stop and think about how likely such an outcome was? And anyway, even if it did not come out right now ... "My father is unlikely to let us get married anytime soon. By the time we can ... who knows if there wouldn't have been clues? Even if my father doesn't put it together, somebody else might and expose him. What should I do then?"

Tian silently gazed at the person in front of him and was faintly reminded of the person whose body was resting in another palace not far away. Just like Xing back then, this Jing He was still barely more than a child. Scaring himself this way when things became difficult and wanting the recognition of his parents ... it wasn't that unexpected. But if he wanted to marry the man he loved, then it was time to grow up. There was no way around it. Some things, you simply had to confront head-on.

"What you should do? Is the answer to that not obvious? If it isn't, maybe you should take some time to think about it. Anyway, it hasn't happened yet. You have all the time in the world to make up your mind."
