Qiu Ling silently worried to himself but the messy thoughts didn't make him slow down. On the contrary, he tried even harder to get past this hurdle so he could reunite with Jing He soon and calm his beloved's certainly anxious heart. After a while, he indeed managed to reach the top of the Heaven Mountain and could finally take on his other form again.

In fact, even though the energy in the High Heavens was much denser compared to the immortal realms below, this wasn't something a person couldn't bear. Even a human could theoretically walk around up here without trouble. The actual issue was getting into the High Heavens in the first place and that was because of the difference in energy which created a high amount of pressure while you neared this place.

This was similar to those places where you could enter the spirit beasts' territory or the demon realm from the mortal realms or switch from the spirit beasts' territory to the dragon realm: In theory, you could simply walk there and it wouldn't be an issue but the amount of energy around you differed drastically, making it difficult to put into practice.

Common people certainly couldn't do it and were likely to faint before they even reached the halfway mark. Only if you were on the path of cultivation and had made some progress could you have a chance to reach the other realms. Of course, this didn't apply if you were given the chance to ascend to the Nine Heavens through a dimensional shift like Hong Bao had, for example.

Either way, Qiu Ling had left the difficult part behind him and was now in the actual High Heavens where he could move freely again. Standing on top of the plateau that was the top of the Tian Shan, he didn't move immediately though. Instead, he looked around carefully.

The mountaintop was surrounded by a shimmering layer that looked like water but also contained floating clouds as if it was the sky. This was the true barrier between this realm and the immortal realms below. A bridge led from the plateau to the other side which was where Tian had stood the last time when he came here. Behind that bridge, the High Heavens seemed to stretch for an eternity.

Qiu Ling's brows furrowed as he looked around. In the distance, he couldn't see anything. There was only the naked ground as far as he could see. In such a place, how should he know where to go? How should he know how to find his beloved?

He raised a hand and raked it through his hair, getting even more anxious now. Up until here, the steps he needed to take had been clear enough. But now? The last time, Tian had appeared and stopped him before he could bother to think about where to go. He hadn't even needed to cross that bridge. Now though, the supreme sovereign couldn't be seen and he could only choose a direction at random. It was just ... what if it was the wrong one?

Once again, he thought of Jing He's face, imagining it to be filled with fear, worry, and maybe some self-reproach for letting this happen to himself. Even though he himself was awake by now, he hoped that Jing He would stay unconscious just a while longer so he wouldn't have to face this by himself. Still, it might not be too long until he woke up again. He couldn't say for sure when it would happen but he certainly couldn't take his time. No, he needed to be smart about this.

Qiu Ling walked up to the bridge and slowly crossed it, his gaze brushing over the surroundings that looked the same no matter where he turned. If there was nothing here, then it didn't seem to matter where he went but ... what if he was wrong? It wasn't like he had any clue though.

After a while, Qiu Ling turned to the northeast. Anyway, with nothing to go off, he simply chose the direction where his beloved had vanished. He couldn't say if this was a smart choice or even made any sense at all but it was the only idea he had.

Most likely, the person who had taken Jing He away was Tian. He had no proof for this but seeing how Tian had once warned his beloved about something, then later helped himself, and even urged him to remind Jing He of their encounter, he simply felt that the supreme sovereign seemed quite kindly inclined toward them.

Fallen gods were usually killed on sight so when Jing He fell and another person appeared to take him away, that person had likely saved his life. Since it hadn't been Xiang Yu, the supreme sovereign was the only one he could think of. He didn't know why he would do so and he didn't dare to think about it too deeply after what Xin Lan had said earlier to caution him but it felt like the truth.

In that case though ... there was no way to tell where they had gone. Well, even if it had been a random fallen god who helped out for Xiang Yu's sake or something, he wouldn't be able to tell. After all, those portals they could open could lead literally anywhere. The direction of where Jing He had vanished told him absolutely nothing. He simply chose this one because he saw no other way and maybe he would get lucky.

Maybe that person hadn't wanted to deal with the whole aftermath and simply tried to save Jing He's life. In that case, maybe they had brought him to the High Heavens where others wouldn't find him in the most direct way and left him basically at the same spot from where they had taken him just in another realm. It shouldn't be impossible.
