Elsa's POV

"Almost there!" I promised, leading Jack through the woods.

He tripped over a root and muttered something under his breath. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, now quit whining. Are you okay?"

"Everything but my pride."

I paused to peck him on the cheek. "Better?"

He grinned. "Much."

"Good." I turned around and kept walking.

About a minute later, we reached a clearing in the woods with a little lake that was completely frozen over. "We're here!" I proclaimed.

"Oh, wow," Jack murmured behind me. "This is beautiful."

"Isn't it?" I turned around. "Okay, you can look in the bags now."

We set down the bags we'd been carrying, and Jack started to look through them. "Picnic lunch," he said, going through his. "Very nice. I love food."

"Look in the other one!" I said, bouncing on my toes.

He shot me an amused smile before looking in my bag. His expression turned unreadable, and then he pulled out a pair of black ice skates. "How did you get my skates?"

"I got Mary to steal them for me."

"That little goblin," he muttered, a small smile playing at his lips. He pulled out a different pair of white skates with blue pompoms tied to the laces. "I assume these are yours?"

"Yep," I replied, smiling.

Jack nodded toward the lake. "Are we going skating on that?"

"Yissss," I said, waving my hands excitedly.

"Are you sure it's safe?"

"Oh, definitely. I mean, it should be. My family and I used to come here a lot. By this time of year it's always been frozen enough. And if it doesn't, well, we both have phones to call 911 with."

Jack nodded once. "This is true."

"So, what do you wanna do first? Picnic or skating?"

"Let's do skating first and then eat," Jack decided.

I nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Hand me my skates."

We took turns sitting on a large exposed tree trunk to trade our winter boots for our ice skates. Once I'd finished tying mine, I stood and bounced a bit. "I'm considering getting bells to put on the laces with the pompoms."

Jack chuckled as he pulled his skates on. "That is the most Elsa thing I've ever heard in my life."

"Hush, peasant," I said. "You're just jealous that you're not as jingly as I am."

Jack finished tying his laces and stood, walking over to me. "You are, without a doubt, one of the weirdest people I know," he said, cupping my face and kissing me on the forehead.

"I'm going to take that as a compliment."

He smiled. "Come on, ice princess. Let's skate."

Jack's POV

Watching Elsa on the ice... I don't think I'd ever seen anything so graceful.

Sure, there were the jokes about her being a snow queen and ice princess and all that, but it was like watching an actual snowy spirit. She looked like a fairy. Or a nymph. Or... whatever. I wasn't too familiar with mythical creatures.
