Chu arrived early at the office and greeted everyone as he headed to the kitchen for coffee. Questions were being asked about what exactly was he doing down in the archive, in the dungeon and he answered them by asking for volunteers to help him clear away the dust and the cobwebs before cataloguing old hand written manuscripts. The final remark made sure that he was left alone when he asked if there were any old mouse traps in the building. He took his coffee to the dungeon with him and if he found any mice he would give them to the girls later, Peace. Now that his alibi was secure he got to work trying to carry on from where he had finished the day before. Most of the books were all the same standard size for that time he guessed, but there was a smaller book hidden behind them which looked more like a diary or journal with personal entries, he would keep that for later and he put it in his jacket pocket. The book with the photo of him and Da Qing was one of the remaining ones dated towards the end of the war, which detailed the results of the antidote research, including a bomb attack on the nearby medical area which dealt with injured soldiers. The following report stated the numbers of the dead and injured, and the precautions taken to prevent a recurrence. All the information he was finding was emotionless numbers, nothing of value as far as his search was concerned, so taking a break he headed back upstairs for another coffee and some fresh air.

He took his drink outside to the garden area with seating and tables for any one to use, forgetting that he had the small journal in his pocket until he sat down. Taking it out he examined it more closely, seeing that it was also hand written and numbered as Book Three, he wondered about One and Two, maybe they didn't survive time, and as he was alone, he started reading it, surprised at how easy the writing was to understand.

The bomb blast yesterday caused a great deal of damage, obliterating the medical bay. If it wasn't for Black Robe's quick action in protecting the patients and staff, mant more would have died. He himself was seriously injured, too many fractures to count and second degree contaminated burns. Yunlan and I did what we could to relieve his pain but it was not enough. Lowering him into the antibacterial bath for his wounds nearly broke Yunlan's heart, having to listen to his screams, and my analgesics weren't strong enough. I'm sorry Shen Wei that I couldn't do more.

Entry two. Yunlan is still sobbing in his sleep, I don't know how long this will last, maybe until he forgives himself for having to put Wei through the torture of yesterday's bath. I keep telling him that it was necessary and will continue to do so until he believes it himself. Da Qing is a bit better today, the shock of seeing Shen Wei injured so severely and finding out that he was Black Robs has badly upset his emotions.

Chu stops reading in shock realising that it's his handwriting, and the book clearly states that Shen Wei was Black Robe. The last book he read downstairs mentioned the bomb attack but only in numbers and damage, no personal details, this is too personal, was he a doctor, what was his connection to Yunlan, Da Qing and She Wei. He cannot read any more of this book here at work but he descends the stairs again returning to see if Book One and Two are in the dungeon, or if there was a Book Four.
