The office was busy with reports about the break in at She Wei's house and neither Chu or Da Qing had written their statements yet, but Lin Jing asked if they could do it today, instead of tomorrow, and Chu agreed The black cat entered the office and was spotted immediately as it went straight to Chu's desk.

"Pets aren't allowed at work, if Yunlan sees it he won't let you keep it." Lin Jing just stated a fact, no emotion was behind it but secretly, he hoped that it could stay.

"It's Yunlan's cat, I just look after it now and again." Chu admitted and the atmosphere in the office changed with everyone coming over to pet the animal. Da Qing was nervous with all the hands wanting to feel his fur, and he bolted for the dungeon.

"Can Da Qing write out his statement today as well?" he asked Chu who smiled uneasily about how the cat was going to manage that.

"Why don't you ask him, he's in the dungeon. Just shout down, he'll hear you."

Lin Jing yelled down the stairs to Da Qing just glad that he didn't need to go down there, he hated the thought of cobwebs and spiders, not to mention mice, and waited listening for Da Qing's answer,

"I strained my wrist, is it alright if I record it and you can type it out?"

The cat didn't know if he was going to be this way for the rest of his life or change back at some point, so this method of dealing with the paperwork would need to do for a while. Lin Jing agreed but one of the girls could type it out, no problem. Da Qing waited until everyone was going home before he came back up from the archives to be met with Chu waiting on him for an explanation.

"OK, Talk. 'your other gift' as Yunlan called it." and he stared at the cat.

"Em,..... I can read minds if I concentrate, but not always," he lied, trying to save himself from an argument, but it didn't work.

"That's how you knew that the stale doughnut was mine, you read my mind."

Chu was furious and warned the cat to never ever do it again. Da Qing had only found out at that time, that he had the ability and he would never use it on friends, but he felt that no explanation would be good enough to calm Chu's anger, so he left to go home, forgetting that he didn't have a key or any means to get in.

Chu's anger took a while to settle but when it did, he felt guilt over his outburst at Da Qing, who had saved his life that afternoon but he was already out of the office, he would apologise tomorrow and he finished his work for the day. He called in at the grocery shop for some small things making up his mind what to have for dinner because he enjoyed cooking at home.

In Yunlan's house, the chef cooked most of the meals but the housekeeper always gave Yunlan his breakfast. She had looked after him since he was a child and never broke the habit, happy to see him every morning. Although she wasn't sure about tomorrow because of the company at home, and decided to wait and see how things worked out between the two of them. She liked the thought of someone in Yunlan's life but wondered if he had realised in what way his life was going to change, that this could be a serious relationship and not just a fling.
