Yunlan sat quietly listening to the noise of his staff working outside in the main office. He could hear them tapping key boards, opening drawers, walking to and from the printer, and occasionally someone offering to make coffee. He knew that Da Qing had found something interesting to show Chu but he didn't want to go down and find out what it was, they would come to him when they were sure of their facts. Since last night's incident, he'd felt very tired and was listless. The shock of losing Shen Wei was still weighing him down and he didn't know how to move on emotionally, he needed some sort of help or reassurance of everything that they were doing would benefit Wei in the end and stop the dreams.
The whip was lying under the coat stand. Yunlan had removed it from his wrist after hanging up his jacket when he arrived this morning, completely forgetting about it until he heard movement in his office and didn't recognise the noise. It sounded as it something was slithering along the floor which wasn't helping his mood and he froze, not daring to move as it was coming closer. It brushed across the carpet pile, drawing nearer to his feet but slid past his shoes. Yunlan is almost holding his breath afraid that if he makes a noise, whatever this is, will turn on him and attack, so he calms his thoughts and becomes a statue. The whip finally finds the front leg of the chair and starts to coil around as it climbs towards Yunlan's right arm. It slightly brushes against his thigh on it's path to the resting limb and settles in the same position as it took this morning.
Yunlan broke his silence and shouted at the now recognisable object wrapped around his arm, swearing like a trouper, loud enough to be heard through the walls and in the main office, causing his staff to stop and stare but not wishing to enter and find out the reasons behind the outburst.
"I know that you can understand me, never ever do that again, you need some way of letting me know that you're moving, a noise or something, you work it out. I'm guessing that my predecessor wasn't blind and could see, well I can't," and he stopped talking, thinking what if the staff saw him, they would think he was nuts talking to a whip, and eventually he found a smile. "Thank you." he said softly to the whip which tightened it's grip for a second and released, as he flung open his office door and went for a coffee.
Gelan was in her security room checking all the systems, part of her daily routine therefore she knew that everything was functioning as it should be and then she looked for Shen Wei, finding him sitting on the patio, enjoying the fresh air relaxing. On one of her monitors she watched as a group of teenagers passed the front gate and stared through the bars at the old house, they didn't look like a threat but she kept them in view until they were out of sight.
On the patio at the rear, Shen Wei twirled the golden orb hoping to see the same phenomena as before but it just spun around, though he did feel it warm to touch and he slipped it over his head to wear under his shirt. He had never been to Yunlan's house and wondered what it was like, would it be too forward to casually call on him without an invitation and this is what was in his thoughts when he heard the sound of breaking glass.
