Two alarms sounded in two houses in each of their bedrooms.
Yunlan arose bright and full of excitement ready to meet the day, he was getting married to the love of his life and he was on cloud nine. Shen Wei tried to move his head and groaned at the thumping warning in his brain telling him not to. Luckily Gelan knew what to expect and brought a remedy with her.
"Don't tell me it's nerves, this is physical, I feel awful, almost like I've had a dr...., Gelan what wasin that tea last night? Did you spike my tea?"
"Did you meet Da Qing or Chu before you came home yesterday?"
"Yes but we only drank.......coffee."
Gelan had managed to throw suspicion on someone else but knew that he'd find out soon but hopefully not before the wedding, and she gave him some paracetamol and a hot sweet tea. Meanwhile in Yunlan's bedroom, the house keeper was bringing Yunlan his breakfast and also some paracetamol.
"I don't need any painkillers, thank you."
"Nurse said yes, you have to take them, they will also help keep you calm, do YOU want to argue with her?"
"I'll swallow them."
Kunlun had finished putting the last things into position and was dressed very smartly in his old police uniform which hadn't been worn since he arrived in this place. His Enigma Room was looking beautiful, ideal for a wedding. He had a thin layer of rolling white clouds on his non existent floor and garlands of pink rose hung on the invisible walls with a scatter of tiny diamonds twinkling overhead giving the impression of a roof. The ambience lighting was adjustable according to the time of day, turning the diamonds into stars when the darkness settled. Also glass seats for anyone who wanted to sit. Ava had arranged the buffet and Kunlun supplied whatever she had suggested. He remembered the first time he entered this space after trading lives with Yunlan many lifetimes ago, and calling it the no floor, no walls room but it felt like a room and all in white, until Yunlan had changed it in a near death experience to turquoise, he had a lot to thank Yunlan for, so this day had to be perfect for him.
The office workers knew that the wedding was going to be somewhere special but not exactly where, no one knew the location only the rendezvous and then they would all proceed together. There was one exception, Chu, because he was the one who had to put them all to sleep to get there and he was even more nervous than Shen Wei had been last night. Everyone arrived at Yunlan's house and were shown to the large dinning room, amazed to see the elaborate décor befitting a wedding venue plus the canapes to suit all tastes.
Da Qing had a keen eye and his brain was working out a few thoughts about where they were going but he needed to get closer to Chu to confirm what he was thinking, and that wasn't going to be easy. Every time he saw him approach, either Chu closed his eyes or turned away from him, he was trying hard to keep the secret and stop the cat from reading his mind. His chance came when Chu tapped a couple of glasses to attract the attention of the guests and everyone turned in his direction.
