Kunlun returned to his Enigma room and stood beside Yunlan who was asleep on a long soft sofa, the same one that he had provided for Shen Wei on their first meeting. "I might keep this for myself," he thought as he examined the piece of furniture, "maybe get some other pieces as well," and he laughed when he thought, "Kunlun Interior Designer."
Back to business, Yunlan's spirit was looking good up here in this room but his physical body in the medical room wasn't, he was pale and Kunlun knew that the two needed to unite into one person soon, or nurse would not be able to help him. Shen Wei was stronger, of course he would be, the two halves of him were a perfect combination into one, but Kunlun couldn't disturb him while he was meditating, so he hoped that Yunlan would last long enough for Black Robe to heal him.
Chu and Da Qing arrived at the office in time to see the staff heading home after work, Lin Jing asked the obvious question, "Where have you two been all day and have you seen Yunlan?"
"Research involving the archives, is Yunlan not still looking after his sick friend?" Chu asked, pretending not to know where he was.
"Maybe,.... we haven't seen him for a couple of days now,...... maybe.. See you tomorrow." and Lin Jing slowly left, thinking, while following the rest of the staff, leaving Chu and the cat the only workers in the office. Da Qing ran down the stairs and collected the bag of paper strips bringing it back up into the daylight to examine it properly. Ripping the bag open he was stopped sharply by Chu, remembering the experiences that he and Yunlan had the last time they opened these bags.
"What? Why did you stop me?" the cat asked.
"These bags are tricky, be very careful, open it slowly and remove one strip, see how it goes." Chu told him as he started to edge backwards a little which wasn't lost on Da Qing as he watched Chu retreating away from him. Da Qing looked back at what he was holding worried at what was going to happen when he touched one of the papers. He slowly put two fingers into the bag to catch the edge of one of the strips and slide it out carefully, nothing happened, it was alright and he looked at Chu thinking, "Wimp!" although he would never say that to his face if he wanted to live.
He studied the symbols but didn't recognise any of them, this was going to be a long learning process, and he removed some more, separating them on his desk to look at. Chu came over to see them and he didn't know the writing either, had never seen it before and he tried lifting one of them to study it a bit closer.
The thin yellow strip of paper slid out of reach as if a slight breeze had blown it causing the small movement, and Chu hesitated looking at it, and tried again. The same movement happened again, the paper was gently blown out of his reach. This was repeated at least four times before he gave up and turned around to see Da Qing trying very hard not to laugh.
