The office was quiet without Yunlan who was still absent looking after Shen Wei and Chu who seemed to have taken up new residence in the archives or the dungeon, alone, which suited him fine because he wouldn't know how to explain any of what he had found, even if Yunlan had allowed him. The university murder had come to a standstill with no clues or evidence to help the team, so yes there were several reasons why there wasn't very much work going on.
Da Qing was surfing on the web for nothing in particular when he accidentally came across an old history site with some very old photos which must have been uploaded by the surviving relatives of the people concerned. To the best of his knowledge, there wasn't any war that he knew of, probably happened a very long time ago and he glanced at some of the face, soldiers, nurses, buildings, and the group photos of people who had worked together.
One of them caught his eye and he had to enlarge it to make sure of what he was seeing. Three people, who looked like Chu, Zhao Yunlan and him in front, must be distant relatives but they really did look similar and in the background was a man in black who was very hard to make out. If he hadn't enlarged the photo, he wouldn't have been seen, long black cloak and enormous hood hiding his face. He printed it out and put it on Chu's desk for him to see when he came up from the dungeon. He then thought that there might be a better image, so he kept looking but the photos were really bad quality, obviously damaged before they were uploaded and he had nothing else to do this afternoon, so he went through them one by one, enlarging and scrutinising the backgrounds because it looked as if this person was camera shy, which made him even more determined to find him.
Da Qing stopped for a break and a cold drink before returning to his search. Even if he only found one photo, he would be satisfied and save the website for another day, and there he was. The photo was a group of doctors randomly standing near the ruins of an old building with broken windows and also some injured people on stretchers. HE was on a stretcher being carried by some men of similar dress, long cloaks and hoods. Da Qing sent this to the printer as well and also printed the enlarged photo to try and see him in more detail, leaving these on Chu's desk with a note. As it was almost home time, he slipped out early, no one was going to stop him, the chief wasn't there and the others had been doing the same all week.
Chu came up from the dungeon exhausted and dusty from the books, he hadn't found anything of interest, only rearranged everything into numerical order, he hadn't even looked at the odd items in the polythene wrapping, a quick glance but nothing more. Everyone had finished for the day so the office was empty, and Chu wandered over to his desk to see what was lying there with a note from Da Qing. Time wasting again on the internet was his first thought until he looked at the photos and reached for a chair as he felt his knees give way. Not only was there a photo of the three working colleagues but also one of the injured Black Robe and his Guards. Chu lifted it and the enlargement and flew back downstairs looking for the book with the official details about the bombing and the dates.
