She hasn't responded to any of his messages.

She wasn't at school for the rest of the week.

A few minutes later, a woman, no older than her mid-thirties, walked onto the room.

"I'm here to pick up Mei's homework." The woman spoke shortly and seemed impatient.

"Yep, the office told me to have her work ready for the month. Here you go. Let her know that all videos will be online for her to watch. If she needs any help, just have her email me. I hope everything turns out alright." The teacher quieted the class as a wave of 'what happened' and 'oh' circulated.

What happened to his friend?

Was it their fault?

Did they make her so uncomfortable she left?

Surely not.

That doesn't make sense.

Something else happened.

Definitely.
