It was dark by the time they returned to her house.

"I'll see you soon. Message me when you get to your aunt's house," Jungwon said, giving her one last hug.

"Of course," Mei smiled as she spoke.

"Don't forget, Mei; I'll always be there for you."

"I know. I'll see you in a few weeks," Mei said sadly.

"I can't wait."

Mei finally went inside, noticing he wouldn't leave until she did.

"So, did you guys go whore around? I'm surprised he'd want to show his face around a slut like you." Her mother scoffed as she walked back into the kitchen.

Mei didn't pay her attention as she went up to her room.

She felt confused, happy, scared, and nervous. He couldn't mean what he said. No one would like someone who runs away so much.

Nor the way she treated him.

Or how much effort he had put into ensuring she ate or stayed hydrated.

Or including her when doing things with his friends.

Or finding her house to make sure she was okay.

He couldn't possibly like her.

She was too much to deal with.

She didn't deserve his attention and energy.

But he'd be upset to hear that.

So maybe he wasn't lying?
