"Thank you, Jungwon," Mei said softly.
"No problem, Mei," Jungwon smiled genuinely.
"I'm sorry for running off like I did; I mean it."
"You don't have to apologize. I swear," Jungwon said, his face scrunching at her apology.
"I just... I don't know. I kind of just..." Mei kept trailing off, looking away from the boy.
"It's alright; you don't have to explain yourself, I promise." Jungwon laughed softly, stopping when the bell rang.
"Can I see your phone? If you don't mind?" Jungwon asked.
"I guess?" Mei unlocked her phone and handed it over, slightly impatient as her passing period ticked away.
"Alright, now if you ever need someone to talk to, you can message me whenever. 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning," he smiled, handing her the phone back.
"The Best Yang? Really?" Mei said in disbelief.
"Yeah, it's the truth," Jungwon smiled before they both went their separate ways to their following classes.
Surely he didn't put in his actual number.
Why would he do that?
He'd be out of his mind.
Mei went ahead and opened the messages, seeing that he had texted.
Mei realized he had texted himself and felt uneasy at the realization.
Did he mean it?
Did he want to be there for her?
No, impossible.
She'd be a burden.
