"Hi, Mei!" Jungwon said happily, running to catch up to Mei as she headed to the cafeteria.

"Hi?"  Mei glanced over briefly as the boy fell into step with her.

"Do you know what's for lunch?" Jungwon asked, smiling shyly.

"Not a clue." Mei felt hungry, but she couldn't be bothered today.

"Want to eat with me and my friends?" Jungwon asked, hoping she'd agree.

"Why?" Mei's face twisted to a look of confusion.

"Because you're my friend," Jungwon said, in a 'duh' tone.

"Oh."

"We're friends, right?" Jungwon asked, going shy and embarrassed.

"I guess?" Mei didn't want to hurt his feelings, but she felt unsure. She heard him let out a sigh of relief.

"So, do you want to sit with us?" Jungwon asked as they approached the cafeteria.

"Alright, but I'm not hungry, though,"  Mei said quietly.

"I don't get how, but alright. We'll stop by the table. Besides, the line is quicker when you wait a little," Jungwon said, shrugging off her comment about being hungry.

"Don't worry, my friends are nice. They'll love you." Jungwon laughed, Mei awkwardly laughing along.

"Maybe."

"No," Jungwon stated factually.

Mei felt unsure; surely he'll leave when he finds out.
