We've all picked hiking back packs filling them with some necessities, food, water things of that nature. Taking one more look at the huge building filled with animal heads plastered on the walls, we lift our bags slinging them over our backs and make our way out into the unknown. There is still a chill in the air due to it being pretty early in the morning. I glance over at a gas station that i went to with Sloane sometimes, i reminisce of her stealing a lighter and walking away as the attendant yelled at her. I giggle to myself as i picture the lighter bouncing off his head when she threw it back at him. Life with her was so hectic but i wouldn't have traded it for anything. Mia's voice breaks me away from my trance
"I only live a few minutes this direction." she points behind us. "Let's find a car."
There is a jeep left in the middle of the road just a few stores down, we all walk to it jumping in. Zeke starts it up and climbs into the drivers seat, Bill hopping in the front. Great i'm stuck in the back with my two best friends in the whole wide world! i think to myself as i climb in the raised jeep rolling my blue eyes. Climbing in Mia realizes the situation too and puts herself down in the middle strategically sitting Tom as far away from me as possible. A little smile spreads across my face, i wonder why is she so worried about me sitting next to him. she knows i can't stand him. Side eyeing me as she sits down i think she notices my smirk because she lays a hand on Tom's thigh... What was this supposed to make me jealous? I scratch my face in efforts to hide my smile as i laugh at the sad attempt. Using her hand closest to me Mia guides Zeke giving him directions all the way to her house.
Pulling into the driveway Mia tries to jump from the car as soon as possible, Tom holding her back so she doesn't fall. She sprints for the front door quickly pulling a key from a flower pot and thrusting it into the lock. I notice the white two story house, yellow shutters, white picket fence. Typical story book type house but honestly didn't expect anything different. i feel like i know her make. Rich little blonde girl used to getting what she wants.
"MOM!? DAD!? MASON!?" She screams out to the empty house as she jogs up the stairs. We walk into the still home and our feet click against the hardwood floor. Bill and I's eyes suddenly meet, we pause as we both sense a noise. We hold our hands out telling the other boys to stop moving. The room falls silent again until we hear a deep crackling noise. We then realize it sounds to be outside so we dash out the door trying to see where the mysterious noise is coming from. We lift our heads towards the sky where it seems to be originating. The clouds loom over us projecting a static noise like an old time television. Looking at each other in unison with questioning looks on our faces Bill says,
"Where could that poss-" The noise suddenly changes to a loud wailing alarm, throwing my hands over my ears i look up at the gloomy sky. It stays unchanged but screams out the repetitive ear curdling alarm.
"WHATS HAPPENING!?" i scream looking at the boys, Mia has now heard and joins us out on her front lawn. And just as quick as it started the blaring noise comes to a halt, leaving a silence heard louder than before.
"What the fuck is going on?" Tom asks finally seeming worried for the first time since the whole ordeal started
"It was like.. coming from the sky? How is that even-?" Zeke looks around at us attempting to process the events. Bill's hand reaches up wiping his mouth before asking
"Do you guys feel like you're being watched?"
"YES! I have been since i got out of my car last night." Mia chimes in loudly
"Yeah, I've felt like i wasn't alone even though everyone was gone." I murmur scared out of my mind.
"Guys, I- I- I don't think were safe. I think things are much worse than we thought" Bill says timidly
