"Hey June."
"Hey, guy... who's name i do not know." i say flirtatiously, suddenly realizing i really don't know his name. Tom needs to learn two can play at that game.
"Brady." He sticks his big hand out for me to shake. I place my hand in his with a little grin as he takes the cap from his head.
"Mmm. Southern gentleman." I add smiling at the sight of familiarity. Men down south carry a certain respect for women. Doors are always opened for us, hats are removed when being introduced, down in Texas those things are just the bare minimum.
"Yes ma'am. Louisiana" he says with a grin flashing his perfect pearly white teeth, his southern twang pouring from his lips like honey. It's been a long time since i've heard an accent like that besides mine of course. I notice that when i get really drunk mine tends to become more pronounced, Tom teasing me for it. I sigh realizing the cadence in his voice makes me homesick.
"Texas." I bite my lip trying to dial back the pain on my face.
"Well i do say, those Texas girls are just the prettiest." He blushes looking into my big blue eyes. I can't help but to break my gaze away, i forgot what it was like to be talked to like that. It reminds me so much of the way Bill treated me. Tom used to be that sweet to me but lately he just talks to me like i'm a chore.
"Thanks." i manage to murmur with out blushing too much
"Want to come sit?" he asks me gesturing to a wooden bench on the wall
"Sure." i follow him away from the fire, my surroundings becoming more dim as our light source fades away.
"Tell me about you." He smiles taking a sip of his beer as we walk.
"Uhhh, pre or post?" i ask in reference to the vanishing. I feel like i have become a different person since the vanishing so to tell him about before wouldn't be the truth.
"Whatever you want darlin'." He whispers delicately as i look up to his green eyes. He's beautiful i have to admit, it makes me a little nervous.
"I haven't seen eyes this pretty in a long time." he brushes a piece of hair out of my face observing every one of my features but his eyes linger on my lips.
"Thank you..." i blush trying not to let my timidness show so easily, I want to be confident.
"Can i kiss you?" He asks. His eyes drinking me up and down, basically screaming and begging to see more of me.
"I-..." i stutter.
He starts to speak but i am yanked backwards by my arm. I spin around in the almost complete darkness and can barely make out Tom's figure.
"What?" i ask him. His figure stays looming over me, over taking me in the dark. I'm don't know how much he saw and that makes me very worried. I start to feel more terrified of him as the silence carries on. I hear the murmur of conversation far in the background hoping that if i scream someone would be able to come fast enough.
"Go." Tom tells Brady with out looking in his direction. Brady stands still in shock, not knowing if he should mind or try to protect me. His eyes now scream something else to me besides lust, i think it's an apology. "GO." Tom turns to him sending Brady running with one look into his cold, deep eyes. I roll mine at his ability to scare people so easily. I watch Brady run back to the group, beer still in his hand.
"Pussy." i mumble under my breath rolling my eyes yet again.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" He stares down at me with a coldness that i can sense even in the darkness. I'm taken back by the audacity he has to question me when he's been all over that slut all night. I chuckle,
