Each mile closer to our destination, i feel my stomach sink farther down into the seat of the car. My hands tremble and sweat as my mind rummages through all of the potentials of our imminent future.
"I'm scared." Mia breaks the silence of the car from the front seat, her legs pull away from their position on the dashboard
"It'll be okay love bug." Zeke takes his hand into hers kissing the top of it
Tom and I's glances immediately fly to each other, our mouths biting our lips trying to stifle the laughs we wish so desperately to be set free. My hand flies to cover my mouth so nothing escapes as Tom bites his knuckle before whispering to me
"Love bug."
We both thrash our bodies around almost not able to contain our laughter.
"What's happening back there?" Zeke asks turning the volume to the stereo down as he looks at us in the rear view mirror like a concerned parent
"Nothing... love bug." Tom whispers the last part so only i can hear making me lose my shit. The laughter escapes my mouth with such force my eyes begin to water. Tom erupts in a giggle that makes my heart patter. He wraps his hands around mine as we dissolve into laughter, our bodies flapping around with out a care.
"You guys are so weird..." Mia says from the front seat as she watches us lose our minds in giggles.
"Mhm" i agree, looking into Tom's eyes realizing all my worries have been cast aside. His presence feels so comforting to me, just a simple touch making all my worries disappear. Even though sometimes i really disdain him, i can't help but to feel most thankful for all that he is.
