#1st Book in 'Tangled Series.'
Revenge and Love, I was tangled between both of these. Once I loved but that love took everything from me, it destroyed me inside out. At that time, Revenge was my only hope. I decided Vengeance would be my endgame. I...
The polished marble beneath my shoes reflected back a restless version of me-jaw tight, fingers twitching at my cufflinks, suit pressed to perfection yet my chest a mess of unease. Two of Dad's men flanked me like silent shadows, their bulk and unreadable faces only amplifying the weight pressing down on my lungs.
I cleared my throat, forcing my voice to sound steady, but it still came out thinner than I wanted. "Where's the meeting, Raghav? Dad didn't inform me."
Raghav stepped forward, his tone clipped and professional. "We're going to AURA Group of Companies."
The name hit me like a slap. My eyes widened before I could stop myself, disbelief spilling from my lips. "What! We're going to AURA Group of Companies?"
Raghav's brows knitted, cautious, almost searching my face. "Yes, sir. What happened? Is there any problem?"
I shook my head quickly, forcing calm I didn't feel. "No." Just that one word, sharp and clipped, when inside my chest the answer was anything but.
The coincidence was maddening. Just a week ago, I had been talking about her with my friends, her name thrown casually into a conversation. And now fate had dragged me straight into her world.
The AURA building wasn't a spectacle like ours, but there was something about it-organized, purposeful, quietly charming-that instantly stood out. As we were led down the corridor towards the conference room, my pulse kicked up a notch. A part of me expected her to already be waiting. I braced myself for that first glance.
But the room was empty, aside from two staff members arranging files. Disappointment settled before I could hide it. A young woman walked in, polished and professional. "Good morning, Mr. Aarush Malhotra. I'm Ruhi Ahuja, HR of the company." I offered her a formal smile, shook her hand, my mind only half-present.
Then it came-a voice, familiar yet sharper in reality than in memory. "Yes Henry, please keep those files in my cabin, okay?"
My breath hitched. Anticipation surged through me, reckless and unstoppable. The door opened, heels striking against the floor in a rhythm that clawed straight into my chest.
And there she was.
Light blue jeans, a black crop top under a blazer, silver chains gleaming at her neck, a single bangle catching the light. No heavy makeup, just a nude shade on her lips, her hair left untamed, flowing around her shoulders as if it belonged exactly like that.
For a moment, the world narrowed to just her. Effortless. Unapologetic. A kind of heat that didn't scream but lingered, pulling me in before I realized it.
And then the strangest thing happened-I felt it. A shift inside me, subtle but sharp. My thoughts tangled, my pulse betraying me. What was happening to me? Why now, why her?
I didn't have an answer. Only the realization that something was dangerously, undeniably different.
