“Isha Di, take a deep breath,” I said, gently rubbing her arm. It had been a week since I moved into Mehra Mansion, and Aarush wasn't with me.
“How can I do that, Cutie? Your brother has been so irritating lately,” she replied, letting out a frustrated sigh as she stroked her baby bump.
“He's only acting that way because of you, Ishu Di. How can you say he's annoying?” Ishaan chimed in, shaking his head. I was aware that her pregnancy hormones were influencing her mood; my brother had warned me that she could be tough during this time.
“But Ishaan, ugh! He’s constantly hovering over me like a hawk. I feel like I can’t even breathe without his permission!” she exclaimed, her frustration evident. "He's being way too protective, like I’m made of glass."
“That's because he loves you and wants to make sure you and the baby are safe," Ishaan said, trying to calm her down.
“Exactly, Isha Di. You should recognize how much he truly cares about you,” I added softly.
“I know, but it’s really driving me nuts,” she mumbled.
“Just try to be patient with him. Being a first-time dad isn’t easy,” I replied with a smile.
“And let’s not forget, Ishu Di, those pregnancy hormones can make everything feel even more intense,” Ishaan added, gently squeezing her hand. “That’s part of why I went to London.”
“You jerk! You think you can just run away from my emotional outbursts?” Isha Di playfully pushed his hand away. Ishaan chuckled and pinched her cheeks.
“I was just kidding,” he said, laughing.
For a brief moment, Isha Di smiled, but then her expression shifted. “Wait... oh no.”
“What’s wrong, Isha Di?” I asked, concerned.
“Cutie, it’s—” she gasped, but before she could finish, a unmistakable sound followed by a sudden wetness interrupted her.
“I think my water just broke,” Isha Di said, her eyes widening in disbelief.
“What! Now?” Ishaan exclaimed, clearly shocked.
“Yeah,” Isha Di nodded to confirm.
“Oh no! The baby is on its way…” she exclaimed, her voice laced with urgency.
“Isha Di, please try to stay calm. Just take some deep breaths, okay?” I reassured her, gently rubbing her back.
“Now let’s help you up; we should change your dress first,” I said, guiding her as Ishaan and I assisted her in standing.
“Ishaan, could you let Eattan and the others know?” I asked, and he nodded in response as I led Isha Di to her room to help her change.
