"I have already invited all the necessary people for the event. If you want to extend any specific invitations, you can do so today and tomorrow. Now, if you don’t mind, could you please leave?" I said, irritation creeping into my voice. Just then, the door to my cabin swung open, and there stood Aarush.

"Good Morn---Hitesh uncle?" he began, cutting himself off when he spotted Hitesh Takur.

"Good morning, Aarush. How are you, son?" Hitesh greeted, his words dripping with false sweetness. No one does it better than the Takur family.

"I'm fine, uncle. How about you?" Aarush replied, extending a hand for a footwish.

"I'm well, thank you," Hitesh beamed at him.

"Sidharth? How is he?" Aarush inquired. If I didn’t intervene, they would keep chatting, and my patience would wear thin.

"Aarush, don’t you have any manners? When you enter my cabin, you should knock first," I snapped at him.

"Sorry, madam. I’ll remember to knock next time," he said, lowering his head. What was going on with him? Had his brain cells started malfunctioning? Who knows!

"Sidharth is doing well, Aarush. He really misses you," Hitesh said. Missing? Oh my stars! I needed to control my frustration before I acted out.

"Excuse me, but can you continue your conversation outside my cabin? Leave. Now," I demanded. They stood frozen for a moment before walking out, but my brother entered the room at the same time. God, please help him keep his composure; otherwise, all my plans would be ruined. Please, God, help me.

Aarush picked up on the palpable tension between Vikram and Hitesh. When he glanced at Dhriti, he could clearly see the anxiety etched on her face.

“V-Vikram?” Hitesh stammered, a mix of surprise and fear in his voice.

“Do you know him, uncle?” Aarush asked, noticing the look of dread on Hitesh's face.

“Certainly. We share a long-standing connection, don’t we, Mr. Hitesh Takur?” Vikram replied, but Hitesh remained silent.

“What connection, Bhai?” Dhriti inquired, feigning ignorance as though she was unaware of the situation. If her brother was going to put on a show, she might as well join in.

“You can’t remember, can you, Riti?” Vikram said, directing the comment at Dhriti.

“Excuse me, I have an urgent meeting. I need to leave,” Hitesh announced hastily and exited the office. Aarush was left bewildered by his abrupt departure. He turned his attention to the sibling duo, who were sharing sly smirks but quickly wiped them off their faces when they saw him looking.

“What just happened? Does Vikram know Hitesh uncle?” Aarush pondered to himself.

“Mr. Aarush Malhotra, what brings you here this morning?” Vikram addressed him, interrupting his thoughts.

“Ask your sister. Also, I need to speak with you privately,” Aarush replied in a serious tone.

Dhriti frowned at his words but allowed the two to have some privacy in her office.
