She closed her eyes.
She said everything. She said she was not upset, she just did it for her plan and she said she trusts me, she trusts my love and then... she said she loves me but... after that she closed her eyes.
Blood.
Her blood is the only thing I am seeing while I am cradling her in my arms.
"Babydoll..." I called her, I knew she would open her eyes and look at me but she didn't.
I will never stop loving you, Aarush, even if I die...
Her words are ringing in my ears.
My Riti...
My Babydoll...
My everything...
What if- no I shouldn't think like that. There is nothing like that. She will be safe, she has to be.
I leaned in, my voice barely a whisper, a plea hanging in the balance, "Babydoll, fight for me, please." My lips found her forehead, a desperate attempt to transfer my strength, my will to her through that simple touch. But there was no response, no reassuring words, no promise to fight for our future together. The silence was a cruel reminder of the possibility that she might be slipping away, that our love story might be reaching its untimely end.
I felt Christy's presence before I heard his voice, a frantic edge cutting through the stillness.
"Aarush, what happened?" he asked, his urgency palpable as he rushed to my side. What happened? The question hung in the air, absurd in its simplicity. The answer was evident in the crimson pool expanding around us, in the labored breaths escaping from Riti's lips, in the way her body lay limp in my arms.
"What happened? Just look and understand. That fucker...that Daksh... stabbed her. We have to take her to the hospital... wait, you take her to the hospital. I have to deal with that fucker, he shouldn't live on this earth anymore after trying to kill my wife, after trying to take her away from me." My words were laced with venom, each syllable a reflection of the fury that coursed through my veins.
As I gently placed Riti in Christy's arms, my heart was being torn from my chest. The sight of her, so still, so broken, ignited a fire within me that threatened to consume everything in its path. From the moment I witnessed that motherfucker twisting the knife into her chest, my world had been painted in shades of red. It was a red that clouded my vision, a red that fueled my every thought, a red that demanded retribution. My babydoll was fighting a battle for her life, and I was about to embark on a battle of my own. The stakes were high, the cost higher, but I would not rest until justice was served. Daksh had to pay for what he did, and I would be the one to collect.
I retreated inside the building once Christy take Riti to hospital, when I reached inside I saw Vikram covered in blood.
"Aarush, didn't you go to the hospital?" He asked and I took slow steps towards Daksh who lies on the floor now, his own blood pooling around him.
