"What the hell! You couldn’t complete a single task I assigned to you!" a man shouted into the phone at one of the attackers who had tried to harm Aarush and Dhriti.

"B-Boss, we couldn’t go through with it because D-Dhriti Ma’am got in the way—"

"What? If my Riti was there, why did you even attempt to attack him?" The boss interrupted, anger seeping through every word. Panic coursed through the man’s body as he realized the gravity of the situation; he had no idea how his boss would react upon learning that Dhriti had been injured in the altercation.

"Boss, we didn’t know she was with him, and we only just found out she got hurt in the attack, but I’m certain it’s just a minor injury." Summoning all his courage, he finally spoke up to his boss.

"What did you just say? Riti is injured? You worthless fool! If anything happens to her, I swear I’ll destroy your damn family before I deal with you. I don’t care if it’s just a scratch or something worse. You better pray for your life that she’s okay!" His boss barked, his voice filled with rage, before abruptly ending the call. Trembling with fear, the man could only hope that Dhriti would be alright; otherwise, he knew the consequences would be severe.

As Dhriti descended the stairs after changing her outfit, she overheard Aarush speaking on the phone.

"Yeah, Nidhu, I'm fine. Riti's injured, but she's okay... No need to worry," he assured Nidhi before ending the call and slipping his phone into his pocket.

Dhriti thought to herself, "Since when does he call me by my nickname? It sounds like he and Nidhi Khurana are close. What if he likes her? One thing's clear—she definitely likes him; I saw it in her eyes. But why should I care? Let him handle his feelings while I focus on my own life."

"Hey, Riti, why haven't you dressed your wound?" Aarush asked, concern etched on his face.

"Because you have the medicine," she replied with a shrug.

"Oh no, I forgot to hand it to you." He quickly grabbed the medicine from the dining table, where he had set it down when entering the kitchen moments before.

"Thanks! I'll go bandage the wound now," Dhriti said, about to get up when Aarush suddenly grasped her wrist, pulling her back to him.

"What the—"

"Don’t shout at me. I’ll take care of the bandaging," Aarush insisted.

"But—"

"Not a word. I’m helping you, and that’s final." He said it firmly and guided her to sit on the sofa. Following her directions, he fetched the first aid kit. Just then, they heard the sound of a car outside.

"I think Aju's here. I’ll get the door," Dhriti said, rising from the sofa, but Aarush gently pushed her back down.

"I'll handle it. Just sit here," he instructed.

"I'm fine, Aarush, my legs work—I can walk," she replied.

"I know," he said with a shrug as he headed to the door.

"This guy," Dhriti muttered, shaking her head.

When Aarush opened the door, Arjun stood there, surprised to see him.
