"What's going on?" Miranda asked with concern in her voice.
"Justin found out about me wanting to report his behavior to Owen." Rodger told her.
"How?"
"I don't know." Rodger said. "The only people I told were you and Parker."
"Well I didn't say anything.' Miranda replied. She could not stand the sight of him let alone the idea of talking to him. She found him to be arrogant, sexist, and a bit creepy when it came to his interactions with women. The last thing she would do is warn him that Rodger was reporting him for disgusting behavior.
"I know." Rodger said. "But he knows and he is threatening to destroy my career in retailiation."
"He can't do that." Miranda said.
"He's very confident that he can." And Rodgee could not help but fear that he just might succeed.
I don't want to go back to being a salesman again he thought. And I don't want to be stuck in the other dealership twiddling my thumbs all day because I know Justin will not be sending any clients my way.
No he will keep me isolated until I either quit or he fires me when he is finished torturing me.
"Well he's not." Miranda said firmly. "I'm not going to let that happen."
I was hoping you wouldn't he thought as a wave of relief overcame him.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"How do you think he found out though?" Miranda questioned.
"I don't know." Rodger said with a slight shrug. "As I said the only two people who I told were you and Parker."
"You don't think Parker told him."
"No." Rodger said shaking his head. "He wouldn't do that to me." He was mortifird by Jeff's behavior towards Todd. He implored him to do something about it. He seemed disappointed in him that he allowed it go as long as he did.
Impossible he thought.
Or is it as uncertainty began to rise inside of him. Parker was pretty upset when he found out about Miranda. Hurt that he had kept this secret from him so long.
This would have been the perfect way for him to get back at him for sneaking behind his back. For betraying by treating some other kid as his own.
But was he capable of doing something so petty? His other children certainly. They would not hesitate to stab him in the back if the opportunity arose. They would do it and gleeful boast about it to him.
But not Parker. Not his buddy.
Or was he? Doubts began to fill his mind as he wondered if Parker was truly any different from his kids. That despite his best efforts he was just as underhanded and selfish as the rest of them.
Rodger did not want to believe it. But as he said he only told two people him and Miranda and there was no way it was her.
He then let out a heavy sigh as he thought how could you do this to me Parker.
He did not want to believe it but as he said he only told to people and there was no way it was Miranda.
"I'll have to call you back." As he felt the weight disappointment crash down upon him.
Rodger hoped he was wrong but he had a strong feeling that Parker was getting a paddling this evening.
With the paddle with holes in it Rodger thought.
"Hey." Justin said appearing in his doorway. "Are going to come out and work or are you going to hide in your office all day?"
"I'll be there in a minute." Rodger said gripping his cell phone in his hand.
"I want you out there now!" Justin blistered
Rodger gave him an annoyed look. "I said in a minute."
Justin gritted his teeth and took a menacing step forward. "I want you out there now."
"And I want a sane boss but I guess neither of us getting what we want."
Justin's eyes bulged with rage. He clenched his fists and looked as if he was about to charge at him. Rodger gave him a look which said go ahead and see what happens. He mused how he had no problem mopping the floor with him.
Thinking better of it he took a step back. "You know what I'm done with this conversation." He waved his hand. "Do whatever you want just know that come tomorrow you are going to be the new lot boy." He then stormed out.
And hopefully come tomorrow you will be unemployed. He leaned back in his seat and looked at a picture of him and Parker. He then let out a hard breath. Unforunately come tomorrow my relationship with Parker might be drastically changed.
