Parker was finishing tying his tie when his father walked into the room with his phone in hand. "Phone for you?"

"Thanks." Parker said as he took from his father. For a brief moment he thought it was Christine. That somehow his father managed to convince her mother to let her call him. But he quickly realized that wishful thinking. He then looked at the screen and saw his mom's name. He felt a rush of emotion at the sight of her name.

He looked at his father who said "Please don't throw it."

"I won't." Parker said. His father gently smiled and then walked out. Parker put the phone to his ear and said "Hey mom."

"Hey honey." Parker could hear the chagrin in her voice. "I'm sorry that I did not call you last night." She said. "I was going to call you as soon as I got home but I just got bombarded with other things...."

"And I slipped your mind like usual." He with an edge in his voice.

"Again I am so sorry."

"Its okay mom." Parker said. "I'm use to being low priority to you."

Linda reacted as if she had been hit by a physical blow. "You are not low priority to me Parker." She said. "And I will prove that to you I promise." He could hear the earnest in her voice which gave him hope that was a promise she will keep. "I won't let you down again."

"Please don't." A desperation was in his voice.

"I won't." Linda said. "You're dad told me what was going with Christine's mom. I'm so sorry you are going through this."

"Thanks." Parker sat down on the bed. "I'm hoping that dad can make her see reason."

"I'm going to try to talk to her too."

"You are?"

"Yes."

"Thank you." He sniffed. "I hope you can because I don't think I can handle not being able to talk to her for three months." He could feel a cloud of depression quickly overtaking him.  He tried to fight it off but it slowly wrapped itself around him.

"We will try our best honey." Linda said worried over the tone in her voice. "But if we can't its going to be okay. You have a family who loves you and we are going to help you through this you understand."

"Yes." Parker's voice wavered.

"Is your dad there?" She then asked.

"I think he is in his room." Parker stood up. "I'll take you to him."

"Thank you." She said as he walked into the hall.

Parker stepped into his father's room. "Here's dad."

"I love you honey."

"Love you too mom." Parker then gave the phone to his father and walked out.

"Hey." Rodger said.

"Are you concerned about intense his feelings are towards this girl?" Linda asked.

"Yes." Rodger said.

"I'm almost wondering if it would be better for him to break up with this girl." Linda said.

Rodger ran his fingers through his hair. "I've thought the same." He said. "But he is so wrapped up in her making them breakup might do him more than good."

"But the two of them staying together might not be good for his mental health either." Even if we do convince her mom to allow them to talk to each other again Linda mused. "What is this girl like?"
