Chapter 68

Kenny was definitely not the type of friend Carson's parents would approve of. He was too worldly, too free spirited, too everything that they thought was wrong with today's society and tried to shield him and his brothers from.  And Carson was enjoying every minute of hanging around him.

He had to be careful though. He did not want to do anything that would get him in trouble with Rodger.  Carson was just glad that the list of things that could get by bottom beat by Rodger was a lot shorter than the list of things his parents would beat him for.  And even shorter than what Mister Gaines would spank him for.

Mister Gaines would spank me for breathing too loud he mused.  I'm so glad I convinced my parents to allow me to stay with Rodger.  My butt is definitely grateful that I did.

Thankfully I will never have to be around that man again.

"You okay?"  Kenny watched as they sat on the living room couch watching a trashy TV show that his parents would have never allowed him to watch. 

"Yeah."  He replied. A blonde haired woman with currently in the middle of a screaming match with a black haired woman. What he was not exactly sure. "I'm was just thinking that I was glad that I'm away from my parents."

"I'm glad you are away from those people too." Kenny said. "Crazy strict parents are the worst." He took a drink of his soda. "My ex's parents were insanely strict." He told him. "Which sadly is a big reason why she is my ex."

"I guess they were very controlling."

"They were beyond controlling." Kenny said. "We couldn't go out without them chaperoning, she couldn't come over my house even if my parent's were there, when we were over her house they had their eyes on us every second."  Kenny shook his head. "It was very suffocating."

"I imagine so." Carson said. "I'm shocked that they even let her date."

"They didn't until she was eighteen." Kenny said. "And only after they interviewed me and my parents."

"My parents would probably be like that if they had daughters." Carson said. "If they let them date at all."

More than likely they would keep them locked in their rooms until they were forty he thought.

"How about you?" Kenny asked.

"I had one but my parents forced me to break up with her so I could focus on college." Carson said. "At least that was the reason they gave. I think they just made us break up because they thought she was a bad influence on me."

"They probably feared she would open your eyes to just how crazy they were." Kenny said.

"Probably."  Carson said as he watched two women pull the screaming blonde away from the brunette while another held the brunette back. Now these people are crazy.  "I'm thinking about calling her, letting her know that I am finally free or my parents." The two women pushed the blonde out of the house who was now crying. "But she's probably found someone else by now."

"Maybe." Kenny shrugged. "Maybe not." He then tore his eyes away from the human disaster that was playing on the screen. "Its worth a try."

"But does Mister Rodger want me to date?" Carson asked. He did not want to do anything to upset him.

"Parker has a girlfriend so I don't know why he would mind you having one."

"Perhaps I should still talk to him about it first." Carson said with hesitation in his voice. "Make sure its okay with him."

"I guess." Kenny then said "No offense but are you going to let other people control you for the rest of your life."

"No." Carson said.

"Because you are an adult dude."

"I know." Carson said. In theory anyway. "But I am living under his roof and I what he says goes."

"I can understand that." Kenny said. "Just don't spend the rest of your life being pushed around by other people."

"I won't." Carson said with uncertainty in his voice. At least I don't want to be. I just don't know how not to be.  I don't know how I would be able to function if I did not have someone else telling me what to do.

Carson sat quietly wondering if he would ever be his own man. Or would he be forever controlled by those around him. Even by a good person like Mister Rodger. And would he want it any other way
