"So are you heading back to the office?" Rodger asked Miranda as they walked out of the restaurant. Parker and Cyrus were ahead of them crossing the parking lot to the car while Carson stuck close to Rodger nervously glancing around for any sign of the white car.
"Actually I'm taking off for the rest of the day." Miranda said as they stepped off the sidewalk. "I'm just going to take Cyrus home and get some stuff done around the house."
"Sounds like a plan." Parker and I really need to get some chores done around the house as well. Its been awhile since we vacuumed.
"Did you need any help getting Carson moved?" Miranda asked.
Rodger looked Carson who was still on the look out for the car. He could not help but think that the boy was on the verge of a panic attack.
"Yes." Rodger said he placed his hand on shoulder and he felt him relax. "If you don't mind."
"Not at all." Miranda said. "Cyrus and I will be happy to help." She then asked "Do you need me to get anything?"
Rodger was about to say no but then a sheepish look crossed his face. "Actually we need boxes, packing tape." I can't believe I did not think to get any of that stuff. Where is my head at?
"I can get those for you." Miranda said. "How many boxes do you think you need?"
"Good question." Rodger looked at Carson. "How many do you think we will need?"
Carson shrugged. "Ten maybe."
"We will need more than that." Rodger said. "How about thirty."
"I think thirty will be fine.." Miranda said."I'll bring some suitcases from home too just in case."
"That's a good idea." We should probably do the same.
They walked to the car and got in. Rodger thought with Miranda and Cyrus that will be eight people helping Carson move out. Hopefully we can get it done in an hour or two.
And hopefully Carson's parents won't try anything he thought. But I have a suspicion they will.
At the school....
Christine had expected to be released from in school suspension after lunch. That is what Dean Helderman or Dean Nazi which she often referred to her as told her. That if she behaved herself she would go back to class.
But she found herself being returned to the library with the exiled losers that she had nothing but disdain for.
And was not pleased about it.
"You have no right to keep me here." Christine argued. "Dean Helderman man said after I can go back class after lunch."
"Well now she wants you to say until the end of the school day." The beleaguered teacher said.
"But why?"
"I don't know." The teacher said. "And I don't care." The vein on her forehead began to throb as she said "Now go sit down."
Christine dug in her heels. "No." She then crossed her arms. "I don't belong here and I'm not staying for one more minute."
Christine attempted to walk around her only for the teacher to block her path. "You are not going anywhere except to your seat young lady. Now go sit down."
"But...." Christine sputtered out as her eyes began to tear up.
"No buts." The teacher said.
"Butts." A fourteen year old boy snickered.
"Billy go stand in the corner." The teacher ordered.
Billy the boy that Parker sitting outside the school office got up from his seat and walked to the corner. The teacher shook her head at him. "Not another word or I will send you to Dean LaMee's office." She looked back to Christine who was teary eyed. "And you sit down before I send you to Dean Helderman."
