It took Carson five minutes to calm before he entered the house. Rodger was sitting on the couch watching television when he walked in. Rodger looked up and said "You're home early."
"Yes I am." Carson said feeling the nervousness return to his gut.
"Is everything okay?" Rodger inquired.
"No." Carson shook his head as he felt himself about to break down.
Rodger picked up the remote and turned off the television. "Have a seat." He said wondering what was going on.
Carson sat next to him his hands and legs shaking. "Hey." Rodger said as he touched his back. "Everything is okay." He rubbed his back. "What's going on?"
"He showed up at the store." Carson said as he held his stomach as he looked at his feet.
"Who did?" Rodger asked.
"Mister Gaines." The terrified boy said.
"Oh." Rodger said rubbing his back trying to calm him down. "What did he want?"
"Me." Carson said. "He wanted me." He then swallowed hard as he imagined what Mister Gaines wanted to do him.
"Did he do anything to you."
"No." Carson shook his head. "I ran into the warehouse and out of the back before he could do anything to me." Carson ran his fingers through his hair. "I didn't even tell my manager that I was leaving. I just ran." The juices in his stomach bubbled. "I'm probably going to get fired." He then looked at him his eyes wide with panic. "But I had to get away from him, he would have made me go home with him if he hadn't. He would have..." His words fell off and closed his eyes as he once again imagined what Gaines would have done to him.
"What?" Rodger asked. "What would he have done to you."
"Punish me." Carson said.
"For what?"
"I'm sure he would have come up with a reason." Carson said. "The tone of my voice, the way I looked at him, my shirt not tucked in. Whatever reason he could come up with to beat me."
"I'm sorry." Rodger said feeling a rush hate for this man what he put this boy through. "But don't worry he's not going to touch you understand. I won't let him."
"Thank you." Carson then wrapped his arms around him and buried his face in his chest.
Taken aback he was not sure what to do at first. Then he slowly wrapped his arms around him and said "Your welcome buddy." He held onto him tightly feeling the overwhelming need to protect him.
Carson then pulled away and sheepishly said "I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for." Rodger then stood up. "Why don't you go to your room and lay down."
The theme from Avatar began to play from his phone. Carson pulled it out and his chest began to tighten in fear. "Its my parents." He told him. Mister Gaines must of called them.
"Let me talk to them." Carson handed him his phone. "Go lay down."
"Yes sir."
Ten minutes later Rodger walked up upstairs. He was mentally and physically exhausted from the conversation he had with Carson's parents.
Rodger knocked on the door of the room Carson was staying in.
"Come in."
Rodger walked and Carson stood ramrod straight.
"Sit down." Carson sat on the edge of his bed. "So I spoke with your parents."
"I guess they're pretty upset with me."
"They were livid." Rodger said. "They want me to spank you for disrespecting Mister Gaines and leaving work in the middle of your shift."
"I figured they would." Carson blew air between his teeth and then stood up. "How should we do this?" He asked "Do you want me to lay over your lap or bend over and grab my ankles."
"I'm not going to spank you Carson."
Rodger stood.
Carson looked at him in surprise. "You're not?"
"No." He shook his head. "I don't think you did anything that warrants a spanking."
"And you told my parents that."
"Yes."
"How did they take it?"
"Not well." Roger replied. "They wanted to send Mister Gaines over to pick you up and take you to house."
"And is he?" He asked as his heart began to race.
"That depends on you."
"On me?"
"Yes." Rodger said. "You are eighteen Carson an adult. No one can make you do anything you don't want to do."
"That is so not true."
"Well in this case you its true." Rodger said. "You can leave with Mister Gaines or you can stay here with me and Parker."
"You mean until my parents get back."
"Or longer."
"How much longer?"
"Maybe one or two years depending on you."
Carson did a double take. "Really?"
"Yes really." He then asked. "So what is your decision."
Carson was not sure what to say. He seldom had the opportunity to make his own decisions. Normally his parents choose for him.
"What about Parker?" Carson said. "How will he feel about me moving in."
"I spoke with Parker a few minutes ago downstairs." He had come down when he heard his father yelling. "He is fine with it."
"Then I guess I am fine with it too."
Rodger grinned. "I'm glad to hear that."
Carson then hugged him again as thanked him repeatedly.
"Why don't you lay back down."
"Okay."
"I'll check on you later."
