Parker and his mom spent another ten minutes talking and then he walked her to her car. She gave him another hug, told him that she would call him this evening, and then gave him a kiss cheek before getting into the car.
He watched her pull out of the parking lot hoping that she would not let him down but fearing that she will.
And my dad probably will to.
Parker walked into the lobby where he saw that boy was still seated on the bench. He was bent over holding his stomach with his eyes still fixed on the floor in front of him.
What in the world did he do Parker wondered. He was surprised that he was still sitting there instead of being back to class or to the library for in-school suspension.
The door then opened and the thirty something dean of boys stepped out. Dean Harlan LaMee looked at the boy and told him to come back in.
I guess that they weren't done with him yet.
The fourteen year old got up and walked back in. The dean's eyes then met with Parker and said "Everything okay Parker?" He let the door close behind him.
"Yes, sir." Parker said. "My mom dropped some cookies off for me."
"That was nice of her." Lamee said.
"Yeah it was." Odd but nice he thought.
"But everything else going okay?"
"Yeah." Parker said weakly not interested in having another conversation about his father.
"Well if you ever want to talk my door is always open."
"I appreciate that sir." Parker said. Maybe I should talk to you about what a psycho freak Forest is and how he scares the crap out of me. No he then thought don't make waves. You already have a target on your back don't make it any bigger.
"I should head back to class." And you need to go finishing up what ever you are going to do that kid.
"Okay I'll talk to you later." The dean said.
"Okay."
Parker walked into the adjoining hall and the dean walked into the office.
Fitzsimmons....
Rodger was at his desk looking at some paperwork when there was a knock at his door. He looked up to see a burly man in his mid forties with graying black hair and a black beard at his door.
"You wanted to see me Rodger."
"Yes Jubbs please come in." The six foot four inch man walked in. "I have a favor to ask you."
"What?"
"You remember Silas Mayhew?"
Disdain filled hia eyes telling Rodger that he remember him all too well. "His boy Carson is moving in with me and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind helping me move him out?" He then said "Feel free to say..."
"Yes." Jubbs Heafield quickly said. "I never liked Mayhew and I did not like how he treated his boys."
Rodger became uncomfortable as he thought about what Silas and his wife put Carson and his brothers through.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." Jubbs said. "Do you think there will be some trouble?"
"I hope not." Rodger said. "But I have a feeling that Silas is not going to let Carson go quietly." Him or that Mister Gaines person he thought.
"Maybe I should ask my boys to come by help." Jubbs said.
"That would appreciated."
"I'll give them a call." Jubbs said and walked out.
