Home. It isn't always a place or somewhere you go to seek refuge. To her, home was her hand in his. Home was the light that had shone in darkness, never not loving her through the pain. And Finnick was all of those things and more to her. He had given her peace in a lifetime of war; he had saved her in every way a person could be saved.
That's why she loved him— for his heart. He might've fallen first, but he had hers before she could even say no. Before she'd even really realized it herself. She'd found home in his arms and she wanted his dream with him. She wanted to sit on the dock, staring out at the water as the sun set on the horizon. And she wanted her hand in his, a promise that they would never be pulled apart again.
Lily was right. There would never be a perfect time. And she knew if she didn't do this, and Rhett were there to yell at her, he'd tell her to stop being an idiot. Finnick made her happy. There was no real reason why they shouldn't grab hold of that and never let go.
"You look absolutely beautiful." Lily smiled, taking in the countless dark curls falling down Peia's backside. Half of it had been pulled back, loose, chunky braids lacing the sides of her hair.
"Thank you." Peia responded, eyes shifting up to her in the reflection of the mirror.
Annie had the same expression as Lily, excitement painted on her face. "You make a lovely bride."
Peia turned in her chair, meeting both of their gazes. "I couldn't have gotten this far without either of you. Thank you for being my sisters."
Annie smiled as Lily shrugged her shoulders with a smirk. "I guess you've been a pretty good little sister."
"I love you guys."
"We love you." Annie echoed.
A soft knock penetrated their eardrums, the door opening an inch. "All good?" Sawyer asked.
Lily chuckled. "All good."
He stepped into the room a moment later, sucking in a breath at the sight of his daughter as she stood. Her dark hair had been done elegantly by Lily and Annie, a touch of light makeup only adding to her natural beauty. And her dress was stunning. The long, puffy sleeves were off the shoulders, descending from a sweetheart neckline. The entire dress was made of tulle, dotted material flowing down to the ground.
"What do you think?" Peia questioned.
"I think Effie did an outstanding job. Wow." Sawyer breathed out before taking the remaining steps to his daughter. "You look like your mother."
Peia's heart felt full. For the first time in a long time, she felt happy. Her dad brought a hand up, cupping her cheek. "I love you, dad." She said, placing her palm on top of his.
