Cass's face contorted, her eyes rolling into the back of her head. She was officially done. She'd been back in the Capitol for a total of four hours and that was enough for her. She let out a scoff, her head shaking as Daisie's brow came together.
"Oh, stop it. You look fabulous." She reassured her, brushing one of her curls from off her face.
To say she looked fabulous was pushing it. Exposed would be a better word to describe the dress she had on. The sleeves were spaghetti straps, revealing tanned arms from hours out on the water back home and the neckline was low, showing a redundant amount of cleavage. The bottom half of her crocheted dress connected at the bust, then fell down by her waist in cutouts. It definitely matched her district, but to say she looked fabulous was respectfully and tactfully the dumbest thing she'd ever heard.
"Daisie, if I lift my arm, I'm going to flaunt a lot more than I feel comfortable doing." Cass quipped.
"Then don't lift your arm."
Cass groaned, taking her eyes off of her shimmering, nude lips and white eyeliner. "I look ridiculous. I mean, this is stupid, right?" She asked, gesturing down to her knit dress. "No one's gonna care if I'm not out there."
Daisie sighed, lifting a strand of her dark hair from off her shoulder. "Darling, you're the Capitol's resident sweetheart. You need to get that through your thick skull. Everyone is going to care if you don't make an appearance."
Cass reluctantly gave in, throwing her arms slightly up. "Fine. Any last tips?"
Daisie grinned. "You have countless sponsors. Everyone loves you." She paused, tilting her head. "But do you know what they love even more?"
Something inside Cass flickered, her heart squeezing just a bit. "Me and Finnick." She managed to say.
Daisie chuckled, shaking her head. "You and Finnick. Now, I know it's been some time, but...you might wanna play it up. Could be smart in making sure you two are well taken care of."
Cass swallowed hard, giving a quick nod of her head. "I can do that."
"Great. Now let's get going." She concluded, grabbing hold of her hand and leading her to the elevator.
Cass toyed with the pendant hanging around her neck, her nerves skyrocketing at the fact that she had to go out in front of the entire Capitol. As if she hadn't already won The Games and been promised a life of security and peace. As if she and the other victors hadn't been royally screwed over. It was all bullshit and she had to act like nothing was bothering her.
The elevator doors pinged open a moment later, allowing them to step out. They made their way to the chariots awaiting them, all of the other tributes dressed lavishly to match their descriptions or districts.
