Maybe, maybe not

Chapter 14

I make a group call to Ana, David and Vivie.

Ana connects first, as expected and not too long later David connects too.

"This one you're calling us in the middle of the day, on a weekday, has your supervisor died?" Ana says laughing at the last part

"Anastasia" David calls and she tries to stop laughing.

"Guys, I just got a letter from Sam" I say, completely stopping her laughter.

"That dog" Ana says

"What did it say?" David asks and I read the letter word for word

"He was at your pharmacy? After the breakup? Dani, how did you not tell us this?" David asks

"Now is not the time for that" Ana says.

I'm sure if I hadn't told her that day at my house she wouldn't be sounding so mature about it.

"He's a liar, tear that letter to pieces before you consider doing something stupid" Ana adds

"I agree with Ana"

I knew this was what they were going to tell me, which was why I called as soon as possible before I do something stupid.

"What if he's not lying? I mean, what's there to gain?" I ask and I hear Ana curse

"This stupid girl!" She's talking to herself bit I hear it.

"He's lying. And even if he isn't, there's someone else involved now, not just you and him" David says

"I saw him with Hannah a few days ago. He's definitely lying" Ana says

"They're having a baby together, of course they'll be together" David adds

"He just wants to meet up and talk, nothing should go wrong" I try to push in my views even though I know it's not going anywhere.

"Samson is a manipulator. You do not want to go through all of that a second time" David says

"And a liar. That dog doesn't even like you, talkless of love" Ana tells me

I take a moment to process what Ana said.

He doesn't even like me, talkless of love.

I know it shouldn't bother me at all, but as cliche as it sounds, there's a part of me that would always love Sam.

He may have been manupulative, he may have cheated, he may have talked me into believing I was actually going crazy, but he was still the best boyfriend ever.

And I love him, no matter how little.

I would also like to give him a second chance, hear what he has to say.

"Daniella!" Ana shouts "I told you she had left us" she's telling David.

"I'm with you" I say

"Whatever you're thinking, do the exact opposite" David says

"And don't forget, he's a dog! Why would you want anything to do with a dog?" Ana says

I laugh "I'll get rid of the letter"

"Good" they say at the same time.

"Now that we're done talking about dogs, Where's your supervisor?" Ana asks.

My friends know basically every way Laura had tormented me in this pharmacy.
They had even witnessed one; we were on a group call when she walked in and they heard everything she said to me, and how she said it.
Ana had told me that day to leave there and join her at her father's hospital.

"Speaking of her, she was the one who delivered the letter" I tell them

"And she didn't tear it to your face telling you 'no personal business when at work!' Ana mimicks her and we all laugh

"She seems to be in a good mood today" I say

Vivian connects to the call.

"Baby girl!" Ana says

"Sister in law" David says

"Vivieee" I join in and we all laugh

"It's wedding thats stressing our baby girl like this. The originator of group calls is connecting late" Ana says.

Vivian is the one who makes the most calls, she always has something she wants to tell us all at the same time.

"This university is what is after my life o. Am I the first person that would write final exams?" Vivian sounds tired.

I can't imagine the stress of school accompanied with planning a wedding. Vivian is a strong woman, no doubts

"Sorry"
"Sorry baby"
"Sorry Vivie"

"Thank you" she attempts to sound more cheery but it doesn't change much

"Let me guess, Ana made the call" she says changing the topic

"Not today" Ana laughs

"Daniella made the call" David tells her

"In the middle of the day, on a weekday?" Vivie asks

"Her supervisor is in a good mood"
