Chapter 35

We've been walking for a few hours now and we still haven't seen anything apart from trees, leaves, the dirt road and we've heard the knights a few times which has made us all stop and hide.

"You're struggling." Jake whispers when we stop for some water. I looked up at Jake and shook my head, but Jake raised his eyes and stared at me as I took a sip of water.

"I'm fine." I whispered before putting the bottle back into the bag and turning around. I hear Jake put the backpack back on his shoulders behind me as I look towards Connor and Juliet, who were whispering.

"Don't be stubborn now, Mrs Wilson." Jake whispers as I squeal in suprise as he lifts me up bridal style. I glare at Jake as I wrap my arms tightly around his neck to help balance myself.

"Jake." I whined as he laughed before walking over to Xavier and Rosanna, who were smiling at us.

"Good. I could tell you were struggling also." Xavier says, standing up to pat my head, which makes me glare and place my head on Jake's shoulder while closing my eyes.

"HOW HAVE WE NOT FOUND THEM YET." A man angrily shouted as I jumped in Jake's arms, who put me down for the moment and pulled out our sword out.

"Shit." Desmond says when he realises we were sitting on the dirt path.

"Hide." Chris says as Jake pulls me behind a tree with Vanessa, Wilfred, Thomas, and Louis hiding with us.

My back was against the tree as Jake pushed our chests together while resting his hands above my head as we looked into each others eyes and listening to the sound of horses.

"Jake." I whispered in fear as they got closer to where we all were. Jake leans down and rests his head against mine as the sound of horses hoofs stop right in front of us.

"It's nearly night fall. Where could they have gone." The same man who shouted said as Jake looked around the tree.

"He's on our boarders also." An unknown man said as I scrunched Jake's shirt while resting my head against his chest.

"Our priority is to find Aurora and Xavier." Another man said as my eyes widened in fear hearing my name being said. Jake growls before pulling me tightly against his body.

"What about the others." A deeper voice said while jumping off his horse. I whimpered as he kicked the tree we were hiding behind.

"Did you hear that." Someone said as Jake covered my mouth and rested his head against mine.

"Hopefully, Aurora." The first man said as Jake and the others growl as the men all ride in the opposite way we are going. Thankfully.

"They're not getting you." Wilfred says as we all walk backwards and further into the woods, away from them. Xavier runs over and pulls me into a tight hug as everyone is silent from what we just heard.

"Bastards." Jake growls angrily as I pull away from Xavier and back into Jake's embrace as everyone makes a sound of agreement.

"Let's carry on. It's starting to get dark." Xavier says, touching my back before everyone starts to walk again. I giggle as Jake lifts me back up in his arms and kisses my forehead before following the others.

"Joshua." I turned my head to see Julia being carried by Joshua, who chuckles as she glares at him.

Another hour goes by until we stop at the top of a hill and sigh in relief. At the bottom, there is an abandoned house that's seen better days, but any shelter will do for us tonight.

"Thank godness." Joseph dramatically says, while resting his hands on his knees as I laugh at him being dramatic.

"Loser." I say as Joseph laughs before throwing a small stick at me.
