Five days have passed since Caleb's birthday, and they've been very uneventful. We've mainly been travelling and I've been looking after my ill husband.
I remember falling asleep after we made love three times, and then I woke up the next morning to the sound of vomiting. I turned over and saw Jake on his knees over a bucket, which was a sight I never thought I'd see.
But I did as I was told and looked after him until he was able to work again we everyone wanted him to take it slow. The room we occupied now belongs to us because apparently we were very loud and nobody could sleep until two in the morning when we eventually stopped.
Today, though, Jake is able to go back to work, and I couldn't be more than happy because he's been itching to help out and go up the sails.
But right now, it was only around 4am, and I haven't been able to fall back asleep because the twins decided to move around all night and not let me sleep at all.
The twins weren't the only reason why I couldn't sleep because Jake had been snoring very loudly in my ear, and I've tried to wake him up, but to no avail, nothing.
Deciding to take a walk around, I carefully got out of the bed and put on Jake's shirt over my naked body as well as a pair of my leggings and flat shoes before opening the door.
Surprisingly, it wasn't cold, and this outfit was enough as I started to walk down the hallway. There were a few of the crew awake who looked slightly surprised to see me awake, but they didn't say too much as they carried on walking downstairs.
"Morning, sweetheart." The captain whispered as I walked up to stand next to him. I smiled before whispering it back to him as we looked ahead.
"Another nice day." I said before grabbing a telescope and looking through it. I know it was still dark, but there was enough light from the lanterns to see a lot of the ship.
As I moved to the left, I saw a man in a red jacket and light brown shoulder-length hair holding something in his hand. I squinted to try and see better, but he disappeared behind one of the large barriers.
"It definitely will be. Xavier wants to go over the plan." The captain said, but I kept my eyes on the barrel. I decided to be stupid, but I wanted to check and see if he was alright.
"If you excuse me." I said before walking back down the stairs and towards the back of the ship where I saw the man. I walked as quietly as I could, and when I got closer, I heard the man whispering before a fluttering sound, and it went quiet.
I didn't realise there was a broom stick leaning against the box next to me, and I accidently knocked it. It fell to the floor and made a loud bang.
"Who's there." The man growled. My eyes widened as I heard the sound of his sword being pulled out.
"It's me. I'm so sorry I heard a noise and wanted to see what it was." I spoke quickly as I stepped in front of him. The man's eyes widened slightly before he put the sword away.
"Princess. I must admit you did scare me. But let me warn you, don't you ever sneak up on someone." The man said sternly before turning away and walking towards the stairs. When he was out of sight, I fell back against the barrel and sighed in relief before thinking about his words. They sounded threatening to me after I thought about it.
I closed my eyes for a second before opening them and looking down at the floor. My eyebrows furrowed when I saw a white feather dangling on a cobweb by the barrier.
"How peculiar." I whispered to myself as I knelt down and picked it up. I was too in a trance that I didn't hear footsteps coming towards me until i felt strong arms wrapping around me from behind.
