Through the winding roads of Himachal Pradesh, Veer rode his bike at a fast but steady speed as Aastha hugged him securely from behind. Taking detours every now and then, they stopped by to admire stunning views and steal a few moments to get lost in each other.
When the ride came to an end, Veer parked his bike outside her building in Kasauli. Aastha felt a wave of sadness wash over her as she stepped down his bike.
"Can't you stay a little longer? You must be tired from all the riding. You could take the car back with the driver and leave the bike here." Aastha said, biting her lips. She wasn't ready to part with him yet.
Watching her cute little face, brows knitted together in thinking and her sweet thoughts to spend more time with him, made him grin like an idiot, ear to ear.
"Veer! What are you smiling about?"
"I am happy to see how much you enjoy my company."
Aastha blushed and hugged him, "Maybe I should move to Umangiri then?"
Veer chuckled, "Woah! Aastha, it's only been two days, and you're already thinking of relocating. Getting a little too attached now, are we?"
Aastha's expression changed. She looked down at her feet, fidgeting with her fingers. Veer watched her in silence, every action of hers, noticing even the faintest changes. Looking, up she confessed, "I don't know, Veer. There is this inexplicable fear that's planted itself in me. I just can't think of staying apart from you... I feel like we will never be together if we're apart. I.. just don't want to send you away. Don't ask me why, because I have no idea! I'm sorry if I'm being clingy. I'm not usually like this, but I can't shake off this feeling."
Veer cupped her face, "I wouldn't mind if you were clingy and stuck to me like glue, my dear girlfriend."
Aastha sighed, her cheeks flush but her heart sinking with sadness. Veer shook his head, "Would you believe me if I told you, I feel the same?"
"Is this because this... whole... love stuff is new?" Aastha asked with a frown. Veer knew it was a possibility, but the fear wasn't entirely stemmed because of that. Aastha had suffered something unimaginable in the last couple of years, especially the recent episode of the spider bite. It was natural for her to be scared given her history of health complications. However, Veer's feelings were just the same. He wasn't ready to part with her yet.
Before they even got together, he too had felt an unexplainable pull towards her... the prominent of the feelings were focused on keeping her safe. Now, along with that, he just wanted to keep her close too. So close that he could hear her heartbeat.
"Let's go to your place first," Veer said, hoping to lift her spirits.
When they arrived in her room, Veer was struck by how the decorations reflected her personality. Aastha had always been someone who preferred simplicity, and her home was no exception. As Veer made himself comfortable on the couch, Aastha went to get him some water.
