Veer's eyelids fluttered as he heard the soft, agitated voice of his sister-in-law, Shivani. "Please open your eyes!" she pleaded, her voice filled with concern.
Blinking away the heaviness that clouded his senses, Veer slowly turned his head towards the sound of Shivani's voice. Gradually, he managed to open his eyes, allowing them to adjust to the bright light that flooded the room. "Bhabhi?" he croaked, his voice hoarse from the ordeal.
"Vijay! He's awake!" Shivani called out eagerly, her voice carrying a mixture of relief and excitement.
Shivani's tender touch soothed his forehead as her fingers lovingly ran through his hair. Veer cleared his throat, trying to find his voice. "How... how are you doing?" she asked in concern.
Veer managed a cheeky nod, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "I'm alive, Bhabhi. I can talk, move my fingers, and see my Bhabhi's beautiful face. I'd say I'm doing pretty great!" he replied playfully.
Shivani's eyes twinkled, a soft giggle escaping her lips. "You brat! You scared us all," she teased, drawing a sigh.
A pang of guilt washed over Veer as thoughts of Aastha flooded his mind, shaking him to the core. He closed his eyes tightly and winced feeling a sharp headache throbbing in his temples. "What happened, Veer?" Shivani asked in worry when she heard him wince.
Opening his eyes again, Veer's expression turned serious. "Aastha... where is she? How is she?" he inquired, his concern evident in his voice. Shivani sighed, her face reflecting the weight of the situation. "She... she's unconscious, Veer. We haven't received any updates yet. You risked everything to save her!"
Veer let out a heavy sigh. Yes, he had and perhaps he would do it all over again. He would have traversed the depths of hell and back if necessary. No matter his own purpose in life, her well-being somehow took precedence over everything else.
From their childhood days to the present, Veer felt an innate responsibility to shield her from any harm that threatened to befall her. He couldn't bear the thought of her suffering.
"You idiot!" Vijay's voice suddenly boomed, interrupting Veer's thoughts as he strode into the room, his gaze piercing into his brother. Veer tried to muster a smile, but it transformed into a pained grimace, betraying the toll the recent events had taken on him.
"Hell to you too, Brother!"
"Why do you always have to get us all worried? Why can't you just lead a freaking normal life without accidents and danger lurking around every corner?" Vijay questioned in frustration.
Amused at Vijay's outburst, Veer chuckled softly, "We are not normal, bro. We are royals. Our lives are far from ordinary, and mine happens to be a little more adventurous than the rest. That's all."
"See! Look at him, so arrogant and foolish! When will he learn?" Vijay muttered, his irritation palpable. Shivani shot her husband a reproachful glance, silently urging him to hold his tongue, but Vijay growled in response, continuing his lecture on the dos and don'ts of avoiding trouble. However, all Veer could think about was reaching Aastha as soon as possible.
