Aastha groggily opened her eyes, feeling disoriented. She looked around and realized that she was in a luxurious suite she'd never seen before. As the confusion set in, Aastha tried to sit up and every inch of her skin started to burn and feel heavy.
Veer, who was sitting on the couch next to the bed, noticed that she was awake and quickly stood up. "Aastha, take it easy. You've been through a lot," he said, and gently pushed her back down onto the bed.
"Veer? Where am I?" Aastha asked, her voice weak.
"Aastha, do you remember what happened?"
"I remember being at the temple. After I finished offering, something bit me and then everything was a blur."
Veer sat at the edge of the bed and explained, "You were bitten by a spider and it caused a severe allergic reaction. I had to take you to the hospital. The doctor treated you and had to give you a heavy dose of medication. The allergic reaction was too intense. Because of the medicines, you were in a semi-conscious state. I wanted to make sure you were in a comfortable place to rest and recover, so I brought you here to..." Veer pondered on what exactly to tell her before settling for, "...the royal suit of Umang Manor."
"How long have I been out?" Aastha asked, insisting on sitting up. Veer helped her and she leaned against the headrest inspecting her hands and legs. They were crimson in color with a few wounds here and there. She also realized she was wearing a sleeveless oversized dress that reached above her knees. "The nurse helped you into your clothes, don't worry." He told her, gently settling next to her.
He delicately held her hand, watching the reddish hives that were spread across her skin. He felt his heart tug at the pain she was going through and anger seeped into his nerves. A shiver ran down his spine when a forgotten memory from another life made its way to his mind. He swallowed the lump in his throat.
As Aastha continued to stare down at her hands and legs, something stirred inside her, overwhelming her. She let out a soft sob.
"Aastha?"
"Maa sa is going to call me back. You told them, didn't you?" Aastha asked him.
Veer sighed, "I had to inform someone, Aastha."
"Great!" She muttered disapprovingly.
"Aastha, I spoke to Suraj. As long as it's nothing serious, he won't tell the rest of your family. But he will need constant updates on your health." Veer explained. She looked at him in surprise, "Really?"
"Yes."
Immediately pulling him into a hug, Aastha rested her cheeks against his chest with a relieved sigh. "Talk to him first. I will get your breakfast. You have to take your medicines and apply the cream to your body to reduce the pain and itch."
"Thank you, Veer," Aastha said as she picked up her phone to call Suraj. There were already plenty of messages from her brother. She smiled.
"How are you, sweetheart?" Suraj asked, shutting his laptop and standing by the window sill of his office at Prem Mahal Heritage Hotel.
