When the manager heard her full name, the manager stilled. She was the princess of Roopgarh! How had he forgotten her face? He had seen her and her entire family at the inauguration of Prem Mahal Heritage Hotel at Roopgarh. He had a special civilian invite for the inauguration function, thanks to the royal family of Umangiri.
"Send her in." He heard the grim voice of his boss much to his surprise.
"Yes, sir!" The manager said before disconnecting the call. He looked at Aastha and bit his lips, "Why didn't you tell us you are a Royal? We could have made better arrangements for you in the lodge! We have special suits dedicated to royal families who visit Umangiri."
Aastha smiled at him, "Because, I prefer to being Aastha more than the princess. Also, what difference will it make? The room that I am sharing with Kiara is really spacious, comfortable and good. After all, it's just a room." The manager was impressed by her simplicity.
"I know it's dark and I wouldn't be able to see the beauty of the sanctuary in all its glory. But I really want to go in. I won't be long, just a few minutes. Please?" She asked again.
"Sure ma'am, the boss has agreed. You can go in and spend as much time as you would like. The guards are stationed here 24/7, so you don't have to worry." The manager told her and held the gates open for her to enter.
Thanking the manager, Aastha entered the sanctuary, her frilly skirt swaying as she walked. Despite the cumbersome fabric weighing her down, she kept her focus on her steps. She spent a leisurely half hour exploring her surroundings before being drawn to a stunning pond. Enchanted would be an understatement. The pond was so serene and everything around seemed straight out of a dreamy book... or a fairytale if you ask her. She was momentarily transported to another world. The snow had temporarily ceased its fall, but the chilly night air still managed to seep through to her bones. She was grateful to Kiara on one matter though. The dress she had chosen for the occasion was multi-layered and it gave her the much-needed warmth against the Umagiri chills. Coupled with the heavy jacket she wore before heading out, Aastha was confident she could brave the cold for the next couple of hours.
As she basked in the beauty of the pond, Aastha caught sight of a stranger standing on a curved bridge that connected one end of the pond to the other. She felt her heart leap into her throat as she gazed upon the stranger. Recovering from the initial shock, she slowly made her way towards him. Aastha winced as her heels shook against the pebbled ground. Quickly slipping out of her shoes, she left them under a tree and hastened to reach the stranger.
At the sound of approaching footsteps, the stranger stilled. On the brink of turning to leave, he stopped when he heard her call out, her voice echoing through the quiet night. "VEER!"
Veer was rooted to the spot, every cell in his body shocked as Aastha continued calling out to him in urgency. "Veer, wait!"
"Aren't you ever going to talk to me, Veer?" Aastha asked softly when she finally reached him, standing barely a few feet away from him.
