The upcoming wedding had put everyone in a festive mode. Tejas's family mansion was decked up like a bride, and the security had been tightened to ensure that privacy was in place. Aastha found herself mingling with her relatives with excitement. After resting for a few hours post lunch, she was with her cousins, counting every minute until her family's arrival.
As Aastha saw her family approach, her heart swelled with joy. It had been so long since she had seen them all together. She ran towards them, and her mother enveloped her in a warm embrace. "My darling girl, we missed you so much," her mother, Meethali cooed with moist eyes.
Aastha hugged her mother tightly and whispered, "I missed you too, Maa sa." She then turned to her father, Raj, who was beaming with pride. "How have you been sweetheart?" he asked, ruffling her hair affectionately. "Great! Kasauli has been really good!"
"I hope my relatives took good care of you?" Aastha's aunt, Kanika said from behind. Beaming, Aastha immediately pulled Kanika into a hug, "Yes, chaachi sa. They were really good and very kind."
"But I heard you didn't stay at their home!" Jai, Kanika's husband, complained.
Aastha shook her head with a smile, "Chaacha sa, I stayed in an apartment, the building was owned by them and they live in a bungalow next door. They always checked up on me and whenever I could I visited them and they would feed me with delicious food."
Kanika smiled, feeling satisfied that her relatives made Aastha feel at home and she was also happy that Aastha enjoyed living all by herself for the last few months. She would be lying if she said she didn't miss Aastha's warm presence at home. Without her around, handling her rebellious daughter had also become quite challenging. She didn't know how Aastha managed to Saanvi in place.
As the elders began to venture further meeting up with Teja's family, Aastha spotted her brother Suraj and her cousin, Saanvi enter the mansion deeply engrossed in argument.
"Maa sa! Tell Suraj bhai sa to give my phone back!" Saanvi complained as soon as she approached her family.
Shaking his head, he addressed Saanvi's mother, Kanika, "Chaachi sa, she had been playing games all through the journey! Her battery is about to die and she didn't hear me when I said who would be here."
"Yeah? Who else?" Saanvi shrugged unaware of her cousin's presence and went back to fighting with Suraj again. Suraj was exasperated.
"Hi Saanvi!" Aastha beamed from behind. When her eyes finally fell on her cousin, Saanvi screamed in joy. "OH MY GOD! AASTHA Jiji!"
With that, she jumped and hugged Aastha, almost tumbling her over. "Uff! Control! I am right here!"
"Do you know how much I missed you?" Saanvi whined.
"Like you had time between partying!" Suraj rolled his eyes from behind. Saanvi glared at him, "I was STUDYING!"
"We will see when the results will be out." Suraj showed his tongue.
