The story so far...
Aastha along with her family are visiting their royal residence at Roopgarh for the inauguration of Prem Mahal Heritage Hotel. Aastha suffers constant seizures and nightmares that she doesn't have a memory of. Most of these nightmares seem somewhat linked to Rudragarh and it's a terrible fate.
When Aastha's paths cross with Veer's there is an instant spark that renders both of them speechless and confused. Veer, who is the son of Aastha's family friend, is also at Roopgarh along with his parents for the inaugural ceremony. Vaishali, Aastha's aunt is tasked to help with Aastha's health complications and help her have a normal life. Vaishali tries her best to uncover the reason behind Aastha's seizures.
As they spend more time together, Aastha realizes she has more history with Veer than she assumed. They were childhood friends who separated after an incident, which Aastha initially doesn't recall.
At the end of the first Part - Chasing Nightmares, it is revealed that, Suraj, Aastha's brother is one of the few who know about Aastha's childhood incident. He confesses to Vaishali that Aastha, Suraj their cousins and Veer had sneaked to Rudragarh during which Aastha sustained a fall, hurting her head slightly.
In previous chapters, Aastha and Veer are at the part organized by Aastha's family at Roopgarh Palace. Aastha, who is bored runs into Veer and later, she decides to give him a special tour of Shakti Mahal palace. It was then that Veer reminds her of their childhood promises. (Do check Chapter 19 to recall Aastha and Veer's interaction)
Also, PART 2 - DEVIL UNVEILED showed a glimpse of a few moments from a year ago, where a masked woman (age unknown) is eagerly searching for Mohan Thakur Singh at Umangiri Palace.

-present day-
"What promises, Veer?"
He took a minute to catch his breath before opening his eyes and letting a smirk play on his lips. "You sure you want to know?"
"Yes." She gulped. What promises could they have possibly made? To stay friends forever?
"We promised to marry each other."
Aastha walked briskly away from Veer. If one of the security guards hadn't knocked on the door, she didn't know what would have happened next. She didn't want to be vulnerable in front of Veer, but the truth was that he was the only person she didn't feel burdened with her vulnerabilities. True, he knew about her condition. But as he said, he didn't pity her. They had a connection, and neither of them could deny it.
The moment he had told her about their so-called promises from their childhood, certain memories were slowly knocking into her mind. It was blurry but she was remembering it. The peals of laughter, the hide and seek, the games, feeding each other and being in tremendous pain when they had to go to their respective cities. She remembered how complete she felt when he was with her.
