Chapter 20

San stopped at his door when he noticed a stranger in front of Nabi's apartment. "Hello?"

"Hi, you must be Nabi's neighbor,"

"Yes, San" He answered as he extended his hand to him.

"Jeno, Nabi's fiance, nice to meet you!" Jeno answered, shaking San's hand making the man freeze in his spot. 

Still standing in front of the stairs, Nabi watched as her nightmare became a reality, causing her lips to tremble. San turned around with an obvious shocked impression depicted on his face. The girl started walking towards the other two slowly, dragging her feet.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"You have a fiance?" San exclaimed with widened eyes.

"I'm surprised you haven't mentioned me to him," Jeno answered with a touch of obvious sarcasm in his tone "I mean, after running away to another city for years without even saying anything about why you were doing it or where you were going, I figured at least mentioning to others that I exist would be the least you'd do for me."

"don't do this here, let's go inside."

"Why? Are you embarrassed for what you did? wonder why that would be?"

"Jeno. get inside." Nabi answered as she opened her apartment door. The man scoffed in return as he walked past her in her apartment. The girl looked up at her neighbor, wanting to say something, anything, but she saw nothing but confusion and disgust in his eyes, causing her to lose her will to talk to him, so she just sighed as she turned around and walked into her apartment, locking the door behind.

"Nice apartment," Jeno said while sitting on her couch, as he watched the girl enter the living room.

"Why are you here?" She asked causing him to laugh without humor.

"You must be joking, what did you expect that you would never see my face again?"

"Jeno it has been three years already, what made you come and find me after all that time?"

"I just recently found out that you came back."

"I have been back for a couple of months actually"

"It is pleasant that you're telling me that at least now!"

"Stop with the sarcasm already let's just talk like grown adults and then you can leave okay?!"

"Yes, because you love being mature and talking things through, I know that much!" he added maliciously with a straight face, not even a fake smile presented on his face anymore.

"I'm sorry," Nabi whispered as her eyes became watery, feeling regretful.

"That's it? you're sorry? A 4-year-old relationship, an engagement ring, hopes and dreams for our future, do you realize how serious we were for me? only to find out that I was just a mere joke to you!" He snapped at her as he stood up from his seat.

"I'm genuinely sorry Jeno. I don't know what else to say..."

"Maybe an explanation? I've spent enough time assuming things Nabi so maybe consider fucking explaining what the fuck is wrong with you!"

"I-"

"Did you cheat? is that why you left? you fell in love with someone else?"

"What? no!"

"Then what? Didn't you realize how much we had to lose?" He asked almost whispering as he stepped closer to her, " How could you do this to me, Nabi?" 

"I'm sorry" Her voice got quieter, shakier as silent tears escaped her eyes.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?" Jeno's voice got louder as he grabbed the girl's arms shaking her angrily. "YOU'RE MESSED UP, YOU HEAR ME?"

"I'm sor-"

"STOP APOLOGIZING WHEN YOU DON'T MEAN IT!" he pushed her back as her back hit the cold wall. "I've been trying my best to forgive you, to find an excuse for your actions" He continued, his eyes not leaving hers. "After much thinking, you know what I realized?" he asked as he stepped closer, "That you're fucked up. You're very fucked up Nabi. unable to feel human emotions, all you care about is your needs like a fucking animal." 

He stepped even closer if it was possible their lips almost touching as he grabbed her face gently, "I hope you're satisfied."

"I am actually." she answered as she pushed him back, wiping her tears, "I know I shouldn't have left like that, leaving you a text message saying I wouldn't marry you, I'm genuinely sorry about that but I'm not sorry that I left. you made me miserable Jeno. you saying that we had a perfect relationship which I ruined is a lie, and we both know it."

"you could have talked to me if you were so unhappy."

"I TRIED TO MANY TIMES BUT YOU REFUSED TO LISTEN"

"Don't you try to blame it on me!" he said through gritted teeth.

"I'm not blaming this on you, I'm saying that we broke up and you should move the fuck on," She said harshly before he grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer as she struggled in his grip.

"Jeno let go,"

"Don't do this Nabi," he said as his voice got more trembly. Nabi looked up into his eyes not knowing how to avoid the situation getting worse than it already is. She didn't want to hurt him, and despite the fact that she wanted to have nothing to do with him, she still didn't want to leave him heartbroken once again.

"Let go, please"

"I still love you." He let out catching the girl off-guard.

"Jeno I-"

"No Nabi, Don't push me away" He grabbed her cheek with another hand as his eyes got teary, "I'm willing to forgive you, I love you that much please just- we'll make it work again I promise you!" This all felt way too similar.
