San's POV

"I'm sorry," San said as he pulled back from the hug after a few minutes of holding his neighbor tightly in his arms.

"Why are you apologizing?" Nabi asked, her eyebrows furrowing at his question.

"I doubt you wanted to see all of that."

"You're right, I didn't, but it's only because it hurts me to see you like this," She answered.

The man stared at the girl without saying anything back. In no universe would he think Nabi could become such a comfort person for him. She paid him a lot of attention, complimenting him and flirting any chance she got, she would ask to hang out pretty often but it was just now the first time that made him realize how sincere and genuine her words were.  Maybe she really cared after all...

"Do you want to talk about it?" She broke the silence, interrupting San's thoughts. He always tried to avoid talking about his past even with his best friends. it was not because he didn't trust them or anything it just felt uncomfortable. But with Nabi, strangely enough, he didn't feel like staying quiet was a better option, he wanted to tell her everything, to get it out of his chest. it felt safe enough.

"My mother," San started, "She committed suicide when I was 7."

"Oh..."

"She left no note or anything explaining why or how she got to that point but it wasn't necessary, since everybody already knew it was all my father's fault." he let out a shaky breath, shaking his head disappointedly while mentioning the man he grew to despise.

"She had clinical depression. My father knew this but refused to get her any help. Unfortunately, He cared way too much about his and our family's image to admit that his wife was struggling. After her death I expected him to finally admit his wrongs, to at least apologize to me, not like it would change anything but still,  Aftel all I lost my mother because of him, but it never happened. I really tried to forgive him, I even worked at his company for a few years like he asked me to, but at one point I realized that I couldn't anymore."

Nabi was speechless, not knowing what to say to all of that. She had no idea San had gone through that much, no wonder he hated his dad, in fact, She started hating him as well.

"San I'm sorry that happened to you,"

"I'm sorry that it happened as well. I just wish she lived a little longer so that I would be old enough to help her on my own, instead of hoping my father would do anything..."

Nabi grabbed San's hand causing him to finally look at her.

"Don't blame any of it on yourself, you were just a child back then. you can't bring back time nor change what happened but there is still something you can do for your mother, you can be happy, successful, and healthy and that's how you'll make her the happiest."

San smiled at the girl as he caressed her hand with his finger. "Thank you for listening and being there for me."

"Of course, that's what friends are for!"

Right, friends.

"What the hell took you so long?" Nabi asked as she opened the door to Yunho.

"I'm a busy man!"

"It's Sunday and you don't work on Sundays so quit bullshitting."

"Are you saying that I don't have a life outside of work?

"Yes."

"Okay, fine  I just woke up an hour ago." He said as he walked inside, "Hello San! Here's your keys" he said as he threw the keys to the man.

"Thanks," he said while catching them before the keys hit his face. "By the way, I'm sorry for yesterday,"

"Pfft don't even worry about it! I'm already used to taking care of drunk Nabi and let me tell you she's much worse, you were just sleeping yesterday but Nabi usually whines and bites-" Nabi punched him with a pillow interrupting what he was saying. San only chuckled at the sight.

"So how was your sleepover?" Yunho asked while smirking.

"Will you hit yourself or do you want me to do it for you again?" The girl asked raising her brow as she crossed her arms.

"Okay okay, I'm done!" He replies while raising his hands up as a sign of surrender.

"I have some work I have to finish for tomorrow so It's time for me to leave," San said and stood up from the couch.

"Oh c'mon I just came, stay for a while!" the other male whined.

"You could have come sooner you know it's already 6 PM,"

"Oh, I get it! You're all playing 'act like you wake up at 8 am every Sunday' Boohoo give me a break," Yunho answered as he rolled his eyes causing both Nabi and San to snort.

After a few minutes, San left leaving the two alone in Nabi's living room.

"Soo..."

"Don't even. nothing happened." The girl answered shortly as she continued watching TV causing Yunho to scoff.

"You changed you know, I'm starting to think you actually like like San and it's not just one of your meaningless crushes, which disappears into thin air as soon as you sleep with them." This time Nabi was the one to scoff.

"I don't even know what you're talking about!"

"Denial is the river in Egypt!"

"Shut up!"

"You shut up!"

"I'm straight up going to kick you out of my house."

"And I would love to see you try!" He replied as he laid down on the couch with his arms between his head.

"Ugh... You're so annoying."
