"Happy New Year!" The two heard the cheers as fireworks exploded in the sky, lighting the night in a dazzling array of colors. She pulled away looking at his eyes searching for any kind of regret but she failed to find it. instead, San was smiling at the girl, his eyes sparkling like the stars above them. the moment felt magical until a certain man's voice interrupted the two's staring session.

"What the actual fuck?" Jeno's voice interrupted the moment.

Nabi's heart sank. She turned to see Jeno standing in the doorway, his face a mix of shock and anger. The vibrant fireworks cast a kaleidoscope of colors across his features, but there was no masking his fury.

"Jeno..." Nabi started, but the words caught in her throat.

San stepped in front of her protectively, his demeanor shifting from tender to defensive. "Jeno, this isn't what it looks like."

Jeno scoffed, his eyes narrowing. "Isn't it? You're kissing my girlfriend, San."

"If you weren't so blinded by your selfishness and your needs, you would be able to see that being your girlfriend is the last thing she wants."

Jeno scoffed humorlessly as he stepped closer to San, grabbing his collar. "Like you would know anything, you asshole."

"Jeno, let go of him!" Nabi tried to pull Jeno away from her neighbor, but he wasn't budging. San didn't seem like he would fight back; instead, he was just staring at Jeno with an emotionless face.

noticing his calmness, Jeno saw red. He pulled his fist back, ready to punch San, but Nabi grabbed his arm. "Just stop, please." She exclaimed, gaining his attention. Seeing the girl desperately trying to save San, Jeno got even angrier. He pushed San away and turned to Nabi. "Honestly, I don't know what else I expected from you..."

"Jeno, I was going to break up with you tonight. I know this is not an excuse—I still shouldn't have kissed someone else while still being in a relationship with you, but—"

"Break up with me? Nabi, we just started dating yesterday!" He yelled. "Are you ill?" He stepped closer to the girl as his voice got even louder. "And I thought you were bad back then, but you've become even bigger of a slut." His words were laced with disgust, his hands moving to grab her arms harshly, but San caught them in time, standing between Nabi and Jeno. "Don't you dare touch her."

"This is not your business. Move away." Jeno stated through his gritted teeth.

"I don't think I will."

"You don't know anything about me and her so leave before I make you regret staying." Jeno threatened but he didn't get the reacting he was hoping for, instead San just smirked, "Apparently, I do know enough to realize that you don't have enough balls to keep a girlfriend without manipulating her to stay with you."

Looking at the tension, Nabi felt the worst. She didn't mean for this to happen. She didn't mean to end things with Jeno this way, nothing was going as planned.

"You know what? I feel bad for you, San. You think you like her right now, but it won't take long until she lets you see how fucked up of a human she really is. What a dirty whore she—" He wasn't able to finish his sentence as San's fist collided with his face, causing him to fall on the ground from the strong impact. Nabi gasped at the sight, but San didn't stop there as he continuously threw punches at the man.

"San, stop!" Nabi screamed, her voice trembling with fear and desperation. She pulled at San's arm, trying to break his hold on Jeno. The fireworks outside continued to explode, casting their colorful reflections on the chaos unfolding in the dimly lit room.

San finally paused, breathing heavily, his fist still clenched. Jeno lay on the ground, blood trickling from his nose and lip. Looking at him San felt disgusted "You don't talk about her like that," San said through gritted teeth. "Ever."

Jeno looked up at San, his eyes filled with a mixture of pain and defiance. "This isn't over," he spat, struggling to get to his feet.

"Yes, it is," Nabi said, her voice firm despite the tears streaming down her face. "It's over, Jeno. We're over."

Jeno's gaze shifted to Nabi, and his anger seemed to falter for a moment, replaced by a flicker of sadness. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced once more by rage. "You'll regret this, Nabi," he hissed before turning and storming out of the place.

Nabi collapsed to the floor, as hot tears fell from his eyes. San knelt beside her, pulling her into his arms.

"It's okay, Nabi. It's okay. He's gone," he whispered, trying to soothe her.

Nabi clung to him, not being able to stop her body from starting to shake with sobs. "I didn't want it to end like this," she cried. "I didn't want any of this."

San held her tighter, his own heart breaking at the sight of her pain. "I'm sorry." he murmured, wishing he could take away her hurt with those simple words.

Nabi's voice was choked with despair. "I'm such a terrible person, San," she cried. "I'm so terrible. You shouldn't—"

San placed a finger under her chin, gently lifting her face so she had no choice but to look at him. Her eyes were red and swollen, the tears carving rivers down her cheeks. "Don't even finish that sentence, okay?" he said, his voice firm but tender. "Friends or lovers, however close you'll let me get to you, I will take it, Nabi. I don't care what mistakes you've made in the past, or how many hearts you've already broken. I'm willing to give you mine as well and you can choose how to treat it."

Nabi's eyes widened at his words, the depth of his sincerity piercing through the fog of her grief. The sobs subsided, replaced by a stunned silence. She could see the pain in his eyes, the unwavering resolve that reflected his willingness to stand by her, no matter the cost.

"But why?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Why would you want to be with someone like me?"

The man slightly shook his head at her answer as a small smile appeared on his face. his hand slid from her chin to her cheek, gently caressing it, "Isn't it obvious?" he uttered, "I fell in love with you Nabi."
