"YOU DID WHAT?!" the younger boy exclaimed, his eyes widened from hearing his sister's news.
"Yeah, Me and San broke up now close your mouth, or else you'll swallow a fly."
After a lot of thinking Nabi decided that the only thing left to do was tell her family that she and San were no longer together. After their fight, she had no right to ask him for any more favors—especially a favor like this one.
"But why? You were so cute together..." Jungwoo pouted, crossing his arms, "Did you like break up break up? like never getting back together kind of break up? Or break up but one or two smooches and you'll live happily ever after?"
"...what language are you speaking?"
"To be honest," Eunkyung started and the girl was already rolling her eyes knowing she would say something annoying, "I'm not even surprised."
"Oh really?" Nabi scoffed, "Why is that Mom? Is it because I'm incompetent at staying in a relationship?"
"Stop getting worked up over nothing Nabi." The oldest chided before continuing, "I never said you're incompetent at anything, you two just didn't belong with each other, that's all," Nabi scoffed even lauder at this. this was the last thing she wanted to hear. Over the past week being in a relationship with San was the only thing Nabi thought about, and she couldn't help but imagine it being the best thing ever happening to her. Yes, they argued over small things pretty often, but She still believed that if things didn't go the way they did, they would be a perfect match.
"Didn't you tell me how much you liked San? Now all of a sudden you're acting like you knew we would break up from the start..."
"I do like him but at the end of the day, you did end up breaking up, didn't you?" Eunkyung replied.
"Why did you break up in the first place?" The boy asked before he continued sipping his tea with a gloomy expression.
Because he hates me cause I'm a bitch? "Well.."
"Well?" The oldest raised her eyebrow, waiting for the answer.
"Does it even matter?!"
Eunkyung sighed before gently grabbing Nabi's forearms, "You're going to get mad at me for saying this but I have to," Nabi already knew what she was about to say, so did Jungwoo, that being the reason why he rolled his eyes at his mother as his head fell back. "You and Jeno were together for 4 years Nabi, that's a long time. I understand you're angry at him for some reason that you refuse to tell me," Of course, she would say that, even though Nabi has explained multiple times how toxic the so-called man was.
"You tend to run away from hardships in relationships and I blame myself for that. I chose the wrong man to marry, he left us and left you with issues," Nabi pouted, she didn't like talking about her father, nor liked watching her mom blame herself for everything.
"But you have to understand hunny," She continued, "Just because your father turned out to be a dick, doesn't mean every man is the same. Just because our relationship didn't work out doesn't mean yours won't either. I know exactly why you and Jeno broke up, even without you telling me. It's because you saw your relationship was going somewhere serious, so you got scared."
"I feel like a third wheel not gonna lie..." Jungwoo muttered, looking at the emotional moment the mother-daughter was having.
"Jungwoo shut up."
"Yes, M'am!"
"I can't help but blame myself for the way your relationship with him ended." Eunkyung continued, "So I'm asking you to do this one thing for me okay?" she caressed the younger's cheek, "Just give him another chance. leave your comfort zone and really try to work things out for this once."
"Mom.."
"I'm not telling you to marry him, Nabi, just one chance and if you still feel unhappy then you'll break up. I don't want you to be miserable either, I'm asking this for you, and I guess for me as well because I want to see you create a family and live a happy life!"
"How come you never tell me this kind of nice things?" Jungwoo whined, crossing his arms together.
"Perhaps because you're adopted?" Nabi joked causing Mom to scoff out a laugh as well while Jungwoo raised his lip in annoyance, "At least I was chosen while you were a mistake."
And just like that the siblings started bickering, causing their mother to roll her eyes at their childish behavior. But she was still happy to see her daughter be in a good enough mood to bicker with her annoying brother, after talking about her ex, who always seemed to make her gloomy.
Meanwhile, Nabi's head was corrupted by the thoughts of what her mom told her. She didn't want to break her heart. After all, she gave her all and managed to raise two kids all alone. Nabi really appreciated her for it, therefore, making her blame herself for Nabi's failed relationships, Just making her worry in general, was the last thing the girl wanted.
Perhaps, she could give Jeno another chance. The last one, not for him or herself, but for her mother who wanted the best for her daughter.
